eBay liar liar pants on fire

I have just received another email today telling me eBay has:

Upgraded 26 of your detailed seller rating(s) to five stars

This is:

Rubbish

Carp

BS

False claim

According to eBays own records - INCONSISTENT THOUGH THEY MAY BE - I have NOT received 26 detailed seller ratings in the past 12 months that require upgrading.  No matter which way you count it .... unless we times the number of lower DSRs by three at a minimum and half a dozen currently AND add a few randoms for good measure.

This whole defect thing is now at a new level of out of control.

I'm wondering if anyone else received an email similar to the one I got from from ebay customer service just today...

Dear modestbods,
As part of eBay’s commitment to excellence, we invite you to share your experience with the Help & Contact pages of eBay's website on 11/06/14, via the survey link below. These pages provide instructions and solutions to issues you may have encountered.

Your feedback is very valuable and we will use it to improve your experience. This survey should take less than 2 minutes to complete.

To begin the survey, simply click here or copy and paste the link below into your browser.

Thank you for your time and for using eBay. Please note that this survey will expire in 5 days.

Sincerely,

eBay Help and Contact

Erm... are they for real? They seriously want me to now review my experience of using ebay's Help & Contact pages? We're not talking about an actual call to customer service or anything, as the only one I've made recently was 2 months ago (& I already completed a feedback survey for that one), we're talking about my simply looking up some rules or info via the self help pages & FAQs.

I think I'll just approach it with the idea that it's an opportunity to leave ebay a dcsr (detailed customer service rating) based on my current opinion of them. Smiley Wink

Any suggestions on how I should score/rate them? Smiley TongueSmiley Tongue

H'mm, I think the mods would have a field day if I gave my honest opinion on that one.

F@*%, !?"*^, and I could go on, like so many other disenchanted sellers, and ex-sellers,

Don't you get the feeling there is a little bit of panic mode going on with eBay.  I do wish someone else had got that other survey that I received (I somehow lost the page after 'would you recommend selling on eBay - NO - doozy of a page which really seemed to (me at least) give the impression that everything wasn't rosy in the ivory towers.

I used to get that message quite frequently - at one stage pretty much fortnightly, as I would scour the help pages every time I needed to confirm, find or link to something for the forum, which lead me to believe it was just an automated thing triggered by a visit.

I actually filled them in the first few times I got them, going to great lengths to explain how frustrating it was to try and navigate their labyrinth, which all too often mentions that there's more information about a subject, so you click on link after link to "learn more", but all you ever do is go 'round in circles or wind up on a page that doesn't clarify any of the information you've thus far read and there's no more breadcrumbs links to follow....

Then I realised providing eBay with insightful suggestions for improvement wasn't the point of the survey. It's more like when someone asks "does my butt look big in this?", some people mistake that for a request for an honest opinion about the person and/or their butt, but really they just want material that flatters them. Smiley LOL

Amen to that.

I long ago came to the conclusion that they had deliberately made it so silly and confusing simply to try and dissuade users from becoming fully aware of their rights/obligations whilst technically fulfilling their (ebays) legal obligation requiring them to make their t&c/tos available for their customers to access & read. I based that conclusion on the reasonable assumption that a huge corporation such as ebay was being managed by competent persons that know what their doing. More recently I have come to realize there is an extremely high likelihood (if not certainty) that my reasoning in coming to that conclusion was fundamentally flawed thanks to my having made that assumption.

lol love the analogy, I got that kind of impression of their true intent too, but without thinking of it with the same flair as you have. Smiley Tongue
