Hello to everybody who might happen to read this.
I only use this account to browse on ebay to get an idea of prices for items I list elsewhere.
I'll never sell or buy on ebay ever again due to their illegal postage fee.
I know this has been covered so many times and I know there's been so much information and links to the relevant websites, but the following information and link to the ACCC website proves in a nutshell (as far as I'm concerned) that what they do from profiting from a service they don't provide is illegal as much as ACCC or any organisation does nothing about - so it's up to the individual to take a stance against them just like I have, but instead of rambling on about what I'm doing on behalf of all Australian ebay users and to make ebay pay back every cent they've stolen... here's the information and link to the ACCC website:
The Australian consumer law prohibits businesses from misleading consumers (ie: their illegal postage fee should be displayed next to the postage cost just as GST has to be displayed). It also prohibits them from accepting payment (for products and/or services) if they do not intend to supply (those same products and/or services).
http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/sales-delivery/non-delivery-of-products-services
I'll leave that with yourselves and whether you take a stance against them too is totally up to yourselves. Everyone knows (or should know) that this place if "rife" with unfair business practices and policies, but when they conduct in illegal activities and decide to steal money from the very people who make them money then that's my justification for my own stance against them.
Cheers!

maybe something simple for you guys .
honest freddie sells his book for $20 + postage [ebay makes $2] on a normal 10% fee ,so how does ebay stop rorting with sellers lowering the book price and raising the postage costs to save the sellers fees. please answere anyone. this is pre fees on postage.

i am not talking to you stawk i am talking to the op complaining about paying fees on postage it does not matter if its 6% 7% or 12% i am using my 7% as for me or 10% as a lot pay in fact its 9.9%

@joethenuts wrote:look its simple do you have a better wayplease answere. we will do a sample.
a book sells for $20 + $10 postage total $30 now before the changes ebay makes lets say 10% = $2.00
everybody is happy seller gets $30 with postage and ebay gets $2
now how does ebay make there $2 from a $20 book if the seller sells the book before the changes for $5 and charges $25 for postage that means seller gets $30 and happy but ebay makes 50cents thats a 75% reduction . that would be like if the seller had a 75% reduction they would get not $30 they would get $7.50
now no good crying over spilt milk tell everyone backlogs how the seller and ebay can make the profit they need.
simple a $20 book its $10 postage and ebay should make $2 aprox allowing for what % you pay for this excersise standard 10% as a lot do.
ps and also dont forget post with ebay and you get aprox 10% off so if you are a store like me and pay 7% why arnt you given your buyers a 3% discount on postage mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Ebay quote the seller fees quite clearly depending on the subscription.....7%, thats it, 100%, no need to be giving examples. Surely everyone knows what that is. Maybe I'm wrong or somthing.
There is the fact that the fee is charged on the fee itself though.

yes but have they [ebay] any option to charge a fee on the total cost+ postage,
i once before the changes paid $1 for an item with $90 postage to me it did not matter as about $90 would of been about right in fact it should of been $70 + $21 postage ebay instead of getting aprox $7 on a 9,9% fee they got 10cents in fees.
no good complaining unless someone has a better solution

The problem with your argument is that not everybody was a postage pirate charging excessive postage fees to avoid FVF, in fact the majority of sellers charged postage at cost or only slightly more to cover a reasonable amount for handling. So charging the full FVF on postage was little more than a money grab.
The whole process was less than transparent. I believe many sellers would have had less issue with fees on postage if ebay had said "we are lossing $x due to post pirates, by adding full fees to postage we gain $y extra profit which is more than $x lose, so we will charge fees on postage however we will be reduced FVF from 9.9% to 9.4% (or whatever the figure) due to the extra we will be gaining. But no the chance to make a quick buck was just too great.

i have to hand it to you ,at least you had an answere adding fees on the total , but reducing fees by aprox 5% .might of been the answere .
but we will never know what the % of rorting there was , and how much it would of cost ebay in total.

The few people that did that is just an excuse for ebay. The fact is that it is postage and handling. What does the CEO of ebay charge for hadling I wonder?? He gets paid in excess of $5000 a day so thats, assuming it takes 1 minute to pack and post thats $4.
