Re: ebay charges

If you don't have a store, you get 40 free listings at the start of each month and once you use these up you start getting charged listing fees.  Ebay of late have been granting random bonus free listings (usually 100-150 at a time for non store owners), but they generally have a limited shelf-life, 4-5 days only.  The links to these are received by some in emails, but are almost always posted here in the forums, so keep an eye out for them.  The last lot were a few days before the end of the month, but they expired last Sunday at midnight.  If you have used all your regular monthly free listings , that would be why you are being charged.

If you go to your My Ebay page and scroll right to the bottom, you should see any free listings you may have available spelled out for you.

Cheers,

Penny

Re: ebay charges

Good afternoon. And - doesn't it make a difference which category the item is listed - different % for different categories. I have noticed on my activity list the FVF is stated separately from the Postage fee - so different %s. --- if you leave me - can I come too ---

Re: ebay charges

If you sell a book for $15.00 …. Postage in Aust Post satchel … $13.40 … total sale $28.40

.

Epay will charge 9.9% fee on total … $2.80

.

Paypay (owned by epay) will charge … $1.12

.

Total $3.92

.

Which is approx 26% of your sale price ($15.00)

.

So from $28.40 … deduct $13.40 (actual postage cost) … leaves $15

.

From $15.00 deduct $3.92 … leaves $11.08

.

From $11.08 deduct (say) $5.00 that the book cost at the car boot sale … leaves $6.08

.

From $6.08 deduct $0.50 for packaging/tape/etc … leaves $5.58

.

From $5.58 deduct (say) $3.00 for petrol/car costs to go to PO … leaves $2.58

.

From $2.58 deduct miscellaneous costs … electricity/internet/ general … (say) $1.00 … leaves $1.58

.

No even enough for a meat pie and sauce …

.

epay/paypal made more than double than you did !

.

And that has not even taken into account your time and energy !

.

.

It is not over until the fat lady posts

Re: ebay charges

A lot of assumptions there. A lot of which would probably be able to be disputed. eg - I don't pay more than $1 for any of my stock, but very few of my listings sell for anywhere near $15.

About three months and several petitions too late I'm afraid, and the ACCC already ruled it is okay for Ebay to levy this charge.
