Ebay have demanded that we all sign up to ebays's managed payments scheme.
In the proccess the ebay system asks us to reveal out bank numbers AND PASSWORD. any bank in Australia advises NOT to give out this information to anyone. hence as of 1st march i will be affected by ebay closures of my listings due to their ILLEGAL demands.

I was also asked for a password for my bank account via email. At first I thought it was a scam as surely they wouldn't ask for that. I attempted to log on via the eBay sight and it did ask for a password. I logged out and tried again and the same thing. I then chatted to an online assistant and they too said I needed to give my bank password. They already have my bank details and automatically deduct any fees owing to them. I absolutely will not give them my bank password and would rather stop selling via eBay if they persist. In the meantime because I have not provided this information it has impacted on my ability to sell. There are other means of selling and other sites to use.

It has been some years since I have sold on eBay and I can't really comment on how the new set-up works. Surely this can't be a requirement. But the golden rule is that you do not give your bank password to anyone. If someone is bed ridden or in a situation where they can't access their account etc., then maybe to a trusted close family member or friend for the duration of the incapacity etc.. But otherwise, never give your bank password over to anyone, anything!

OR, open an account that is only used for eBay activity.
With the recent changes to payments, I would go one step further and recommend that as soon as the payment hits the ‘eBaying account’ it is transferred to another account.
When setting up a new account a member might choose a password that lets eBay know the true feelings about having to provide the password, something like ‘MYOBeBayMFs’ would suffice (except that the password would be encrypted and not seen by anyone at eBay, but it might make the member feel good having had to provide a password)

With the ability to enable 2-factor authentication (highly recommended for any account that you want to keep safe), and the ability to change passwords after briefly having to use it within the eBay site, someone gaining access to a bank account after going through the process would only be possible if A, they get the new password, and B, they have access to the device or email address you get the security codes sent to. (2-factor authentication on eBay is a slightly bigger inconvenience than having it with a site like PayPal, because there's no "trust this device" option, but I'd rather type in two codes once every 24 hours or so than worry about other people getting access to my accounts 24-7, lol).
If anyone wants to go the full paranoia route but still wants to register for managed payments for whatever reason, then just:
And Bob's your (slightly tired) uncle 😆

YES But then ASIC should not allow Ebay to ask for it otherwise You wont be able to sell on ebay
who is breaching rules here EBAY and ASIC basically Australian government

Yes when you register for managed payments
the worst thing is asking for access number and password and if you have few bank accounts in 1 access number that is scary so I gave up

easy to say a lot of people dont want to change passwords every day
same thing is with Western Union then use same system called POLI
the question here is :Is that legal?
bank advising not to share but some companies ask for it
more surprising is ebay
another concern is that ebay is not managing payments but some company called ADYEN
plus money can not be used to buy things like on pay pal but goes to your bank account and takes 2-3 days or more

I agree
The best would be just to add manually bank account and then verify it like pay pal use to do
also no one will provide fake account details as your money goes there
I have to contact ebay and rise this matter as it is really dodgy and not confident with it at all
providing access number and password-NO thank you
