Hi guys,
eBay plus whats the product criteria for ebay to cover the shipping cost for the item?
I recently signed up to the ebay plus to make a purchase because of the following
Product 1
Seller 1 = $25
Seller 2 = $17 + 9.95 shipping
If i signed up to ebay plus "Seller 2", shipping is free. This means eBay paid for the shipping. The Buyer saves and the seller can sell it cheaper making it more attractive to ebay plus members.
Now i tried this on multiple products on my listing and it doesnt work
Offer 1
Item Price (incudes free shipping), Shipping cost is incoperated into the item price
Offer 2
Item Price excluding shipping, Shipping cost is seperate to the item
When I provide "offer 1" = eBay plus badge appears
When i provide "offer 2" = eBay plus badge is removed and the buyer still has to pay for shipping
What this testing shows is that the eBay plus is just a glorified ebay top rated seller. However, from the purchase I made above I was enticed into signing up and save on the shipping which means ebay does actually cover the cost of shipping on certain items.
There must be some criteria that eBay will cover the shipping cost for certain items. Does anyone out there know?

How could you get sucked in to using Plus?
I have been reading their blurb since it started but never felt the need to join a service that I could see nothing in it for me.

I have just cancelled my ebayplus as I went through all the deals and services and I found that it didn't offer what I wanted and it only offered what ebay and the sellers could get out of it,most items have been over inflated in price and then discounted to make it look like you were getting a bargain.
There is a lot of negative feedback for the products so to me it just all seems like alot of garbage, so I cancelled.

Ebay plus as far as I concerned is a total sham ... here I am about to buy a few items and a big banner across the top or the screen touting " Get $20.00 of this purchase by joining Ebay Plus ... free trial period for 30 days. So after a quick read that if I don't like it I can cancel within the 30 trial period ... no fault no foul.
So I joined up and paid by paypal .. set up for end of free trial period as was the requirement. After a few days i got no $20.00 coupon so I rang the customer support ... wasn't that fun to try to actually get a person talking to you and not and endless list of pre-recorded responses. Customer support told me that coupons would be sent by ebay messages or to my email in 3-5 days so I waited.
It's now 8 days later and nothing .... so I read the fine print in the terms and found they are offering a $5.00 dollar coupon every 3months.
What an absolute freaking scam ... false advertising bait and switch on the naive and unsuspecting.
I wish I had screen shot the banner but it doesn't appear anymore - I assume since I signed up. I wouldn't hesitate in reporting them to the ACCC for false advertising. If I could find anywhere to send them a complaint about them rather than sellers or items I would be tapping this off into their inbox rather than here.
Grrr

How is it a scam if you did not read the fine print in the T & Cs BEFORE joining?

lol.
I can confirm eBay plus is good, just wish they'd extend the flybuys points, It pays for itself and discount codes they offer still is savings. I also got a fee google home mini, countless discount codes on black friday and also christmas and the occasional 15% off. Also the $5 off a month too.
Anyway the only negative is that it can be abused on sellers for returns - I dislike that
