I'm a non store seller, but never receive the 100 free listings emails. all my general promotions are ticked within my acc prefs. have rang ebay they sent me the link but of course it didn't work as its invite only and ebay have become savvy with pple sharing the link.
.
yes I understand its invite only - but how do I qualify? I know I get 40 free listings a month - that works out to just over 1 a day. most sellers agree currently sales are down, people are holding onto their money for xmas. so if you list 100 and only 3 sell, if they're free its not quite so painful.
any ideas?

I would rather improve the 40 free listings I already have to find a way to increase my sales rather than waste my time listing 100 items only to sell 3%. Personally while I take advantage of the free 40 listings on 2 ids to utilise auction format and BIN with Best Offer I don't mind paying the $1.50 if I want to list more. IMO if I cannot absorb a fee of $1.50 then I may as well take it to the op shop.

IMO min listing fee $1.50 x 100 = $150 , only making 3 sales out of that - no.... I'd rather have the 100 free offered every 2 weeks or so

And I would rather not have my listings lost in a sea of items that the sellers themselves don't think are worth more than $1.50 and have no expectation of attracting a buyer!

not quite sure what you're getting at PJ but I sell items worth more than $1.50, I don't sell rubbish. your reply is getting away from my inital question.

PJ, was more than likely speaking generally.
lots of sellers use the free promotions to list their really inexpensive items or items that they don't care if they only get a few cents for, because they don't want to/they are not worth listing at $1.50 or using up the allotted 40.
so when these listings appear, they flood the site and make it harder for the other, higher priced listings to be found.
For example, I might have a box of old baby clothes, or well used books, that really aren't worth very much and unlikely to sell at even $1.50 + FVF's etc, but I might think it worth my while to list them for 10c each or $1, if I've got all those free listings.
I've seen people list even stuff like furniture for this, simply cos they want someone to take it off their hands, they don't care if they get next to nothing, cos it would cost them more to dispose of it themselves.
In reply to your question, I don't believe that there is any rhyme or reason to eBay's selection process, so there probably is nothing you can do to "qualify"
However, I suspect that if eBay weere to implement a selective distribution method for the offer, that they would focus on accounts that were not used very much, as a way to encourage what appears to be inactive sellers to become more productive.
So, with that in mind, have you considered opening up another account or two?
If I'm wrong, it's only cost you a bit of time but increased your opportunities of receiving the offers.

now I understand. point taken.
I do have another id lotsamagsnbags which I opened for that reason, I never received any promotional offers despite listing most days.
this has received 3 email offers. It has been worth the time, apart from the fact that I've outbid myself accidentally once or twice forgetting i placed a bid when the other id was open - doh! also need to clear my temp files regularly or my computer gets confused.
I was reading it was a promo for non store sellers so wondered why I'd never received an offer on this id which was what prompted my post.
annoying that the people with items not worth a few dollars don't list them on gumtree instead but I guess that their choice.

to get around the issues with confusing the 2 ID's, you could allot a different browser to each one. that way your computer wouldn't get confused,
For example use IE for account one and Firefox for account 2 and discipline yourself to make sure you only ever use that ID on that browser.
The bonus of that is that you can have both ID's open at the same time, so if you are listing on one, you can have a quick break to check out things you are bidding on, pop in here for a chat, or even have a squizz at what you have just listed from the buyers perspective.... all without having to sign in and out.

I'm not very good at explaining things, but I will have a go, because it is easy, however, if I make it sound as clear as mud, it could be worth starting a specific thread about it, as some of the techy people could help.
What browser do you use at the moment? If you have 2 tabs opened up, so you switch between screens, or maybe a word document open as well, when you minimize the page you're not using, it kind of just disappears, but is easy enough to open up again.
Well, if you have a second browser, it works the same. You just minimize the page you don't want but then when I want it, I just bring it up from the bar at the bottom.
To get extra browsers, you just download them from the internet.
Just go to google and search for one that you don't have, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Chrome seem to be the most popular (Firefox is the one recommended for eBay, apparently things work better with Firefox with eBay sites) whereas my uni works best on IE, so I will often have 2 browsers open at the same time if I am studying/procrastinating on eBay.
Download them, and pin them to your task bar (the bar down the bottom) then open them whenever you want.
Yes, I have a few accounts, I have a posting account (this one) which I use don't use to buy much, only if I forget to swap accounts or if I am buying off a member I interact with on here, in the interests of transperancy, so they know who it is.
Then I have a store account and a couple of auction accounts for selling. and then a buying account. just easier to keep everything seperate. (plus my accountant told me to keep my business and personal separate.)
