gaming monitor doesn't show up under (shop by category search) gaming monitor

Hi,

I'm trying to sell a gaming monitor (see item below), but when I do a search by category on ebay for 'gaming monitor' it doesn't seem to be in the list.

Anyone know what the listing should include to show up under that search?

I've just added "most suitable for: light gaming", hope it's not just a delaying in that showing up.

Thanks

Is no one able to say why my monitor is not listed in the (first rank?) 'monitor' category - by contrast with say the Benq GL2450HM monitor that is listed in that category?

Is there a part in creating the initial ad where you choose the Category the ad is to go in - is it possible that I didn't put the correct details at that point and it can't be revised now / or the option doesn't show in revise?

No, no-one here probably can say why it's not listed first. We don't write the programs, we just buy and sell.

I typed in Benq gaming monitor into the search, using best match (which I NEVER use) and yours came up as number one.

The two other Benq monitors that do show up have no item specs - yours has everything filled out.

Normally, that would help a listing get good ranking, unless the specs are ones that people typically aren't looking for, eg if most people looking for a gaming monitor want a 120hz refresh rate, and filter results to that, it probably "teaches" the algorithm people are less likely to look at / buy one with a 60hz refresh rate, and so it will only show it if the searcher tells the search engine that's what they want. (This is just speculation on my part, but if you remove all item specs from the listing and have them in the description instead, then it shows up in normal search, it would suggest - though not prove - the theory has some merit).

Not sure, but when I looked at your item you have offered:

Comprehensive Computer Cover from XCover.com - AU $5.74 Opens an information Overlay I am over 18 and have read and agree to the policy terms (including the PDS and FSG). The policy is ...

Are you legally allowed to do that ? I was under the impression it was only available to regstered re-sellers / and new items.

I have not sold in years, so really don't know, probably completely wrong, just thought I would put it out there in case it gets you in strife. Other more experienced sellers would know for sure.

This stuff pops on my listings all the time I don't even offer it. Its basically extended warranty from a 3rd party not associate with the seller. It used to be Virginia Surety but i think they Stopped paying out people and no longer have the contract XCover does now. Basically a money grab for them.

Can you remove it from your listings?

I just remember some thread here whereby someone claimed on some extended warranty similar to this and the seller was left in a right mess because it wasn't legit or something.

Kat, I'm pretty sure those ads are put in by eBay and can't be removed.

I wonder if a warning in the description might be a good idea (saying that you're not associated with Xcover.com and not responsible for any cover they offer), or might that be seen as hostile?

eBay might see it in an unfavourable light, but at the end of the day you are not responsible for that company's T&C's or policies anyway.

Also many buyers never look at item desciptions and just rely on the basic information in the listing.

Fair enough, at least a seller that may get hurt by it can claim from eBay if it is something they enforced, just wondered.

Sorry to hi-jack your thread sandl

No problem.

I've ignored the insurance offers up until now in part because I don't really expect that buyers will be wanting to make claims for items I'm selling; I'll probably just continue to ignore them for that reason.
