Why do you need to check anything about the buyer?

Whether it is a Buy it Now or an Auction, when the buyer pays, you post. If the buyer doesn't pay you open an Unpaid Item case.

If the buyer has paid and provided an undeliverable incomplete address you can send them a message or try and phone them. You can request a buyer's phone number by clicking on Advanced Search and then select Find Contact Information on the left hand menu. If you get no response then call eBay and ask them to confirm the address.

U really only have to worry about those buyers who do not pay.  U can also ask for the buyer's contact details, but I've found buyers who haven't paid have disconnected phones.

I have a buyer at the moment, judging by the feedback she's received it seems she's paid everyone but me & her time to pay runs out today.  She also hasn't given any feedback since early April.

Has anyone else had recent dealing with an ID starting with mommy********* (103 positive feedback) in Qld?

I'm getting quite a few non-payers, wasting my time & effort, as when I sell I go pack the item ready to post when it's paid for.  Also I have to lose one of my 40 free listings for every non-payer, as I only get one bid or the 2nd chance doesn't get taken up.

You can look through their feedback to see what sellers have left them and what they have left other sellers

A buyer can only receive positive feedback so the buyer will have 100% positive feedback so what's the point in checking a buyers credentials? If in the end they don't pay then you just put in a claim and once it's closed and if they haven't paid then you block them.

Re: how can I check a buyers credentials when selling buy it now

I havent dealt with anyone of that name but I do have 2 non paying bidders atm.  One of them sounds kinda like the one you speak of here, but instead has a score of over 60 but has only ever left 2 feedbacks both negative Man Surprised I've sent an invoice to her and a private message which she did reply to saying she'd pay in the next 3 days, that was Monday... I really dont like being too pushy to non paying bidders, but how long should you have to wait? The item she won was only a 20 dollar bundle of clothes but still she placed a heap of bids on the item and it's been almost a week since auction end.

And in response to the OP, I check everyones profile that bids on my items, check feedback as a seller, buyer and feedback they have left for others.  It's only really for my own small mined curiosity lol but I make a point of ALWAYS leaving feedback for buyers and sellers alike.  I've seen others on here saying that leaving feedback is "voluntary" yet it is one of the most important parts about ebay trading.  IMO it should be compulsary.  It makes both buyers and sellers accountable.

I always try to take the time to check on my auction listings a bidders feedback left for other sellers, and scan the feedback left for them for signs of non-payment or other pesky behaviours.

I have no doubt at all that across my IDs that it has slightly lessened the number of unpaid cases I have had to deal with and in a couple of cases based on feedback left for others - false not as described claims by scammers.

Just sensible risk management IMO, particularly when it comes to auctions, as well as providing other buyers the opportunity to bid and win my goods the first time round - without auction interference from a non-paying pest that tends to bid to win and places relatively high bids without regard for having to pay for goods.

I cant help it, I also like to see if they are the type that just leaves the same feedback for everyone of if they take the time to personalise it a bit lol I like to personalise....

I'm just a bit concerned that my current non paying bidder has only ever left  feedback twice and they are both negative.  Makes me think twice about opening a case with ebay ect.  It would have to go well into 2 weeks and three or four unanswered messages before I'd even consider doing that though.

Why? If you open a case and they don't pay, they can't leave feedback. If they leave a neg before the case is closed eBay will delete it as there was no transaction. I send a polite reminder on day 4, open the case on day 5, close it 4 days later. if necessary - most pay.
