As a footy card im sure you would just chuck them in a 70c envelope and a plastic card sleeve (not sure what they cost each but it would make sense if thats what the extra 50c is for)
so what may be worth trying is instead of listing a $5 card with $1.20 postage, try listing at $6.20 with free postage.
part of ebays change recently, they said that people who offer free postage would be getting priority in search results (not sure how true this is though)
I used to have all my listings with postage, but recently changed to free postage with higher BIN prices and it works well
Also takes out the DSR star for postage costs
Please don't just chuck them in an envelope and bung a 70c stamp on. If some of the cards you describe as mint are likely going to collectors please treat them accordingly. Even a bit of glad wrap to protect them from the weather - and packed between some sturdy cardboard (which can often be found around the house). The extra packaging may bump it up to the large letter rate but seems you are charging $1.20 mostly anyway (check this as it may be $1.40 now). Perhaps invest in a pack or two of prepaid envelopes, you may even get a discount for quantity.

@banoras wrote:Hi kc,
I had a look at your listings, didn't know what they were (I'm older lady, LOL) ...footy cards I see, however if I was wanting a present of these for my grandsons for example, I'd search for footy cards...yours don't come up. they do if I search for "afl cards", though.
Include more words in your title, like "footy afl cards"
After you do a listing, act as a buyer searching for one, its amazing how sometimes even a simple spelling mistake can ruin your chances.
My daughter once listed some "baby cloths" instead of baby clothes and wondered why she had no lookers.
Agree. Check spelling, also use more words to your advantage (some people go overboard and it can be considered keyword spamming). But nothing wrong with you including in the title (for instance) footy football and AFL etc even Aussie or Australian sports trading cards etc

you took my post too literal.... as a card buyer myself i know what effort most card sellers go to, which do include cardboard alot of the time.
i was more poining out that sending a card will cost no more than a 70c in a small envelope even with a bit of cardboard backing. i wasnt actually talking about how he packed it.
His postage cost for the footy cards arent unreasonable at all. He may have better results by offering free postage and raising his sale price accordingly

good points sjr
but
would that discourage multi purchases?
OP (thats the author of the thread - the guy with the new store) is combined postage in your plans?
cos if you promote discounted postage by combining a few items together, it might mean people buy more than one card or item
cos i reckon a fair few cards would fit in one envelope
something to consider anyway
PLUS do consider the downside oif sending items without tracking numbers
there is no seller protection, so if someone claims they didnt receive an item, you will lose a paypal case
so if you do (and lots do) make sure it is on something where you can afford the loss or easily replace the item if necessary
some sellers say for every iotem they send as large letter (so no tracking) they stick 20c in a jar to cover the ones that may get l;ost

I vote we don't overwhelm him.
How about we help him to work onn one or two things at a time, get them perfect, and get all his postage and packag8ing sorted to a popint he is comfortable and the method is effective and then fix something else LOL

To change anything in promotion boxes in your store (spelling, etc), hover the mouse over Account, then click on Manage Store. Down the left but towards the top there should be a link for Promotion Boxes. From memory, if you've got more than one box you'll have to tick the relevant one, then select Edit on the drop-down menu to the right. The first page will show you details of where on the page the box is so just click on Continue, then edit it on the next page, then click confirm or whatever it says at the end. Then click on your store icon and check that it came out right.
