Re: me thinks a scammer on the loose ?

Whether it's a scam or not, ebay should have a duty of care to expose the risk to the buyer in purchasing such an item as there is no recourse to compensation. There should be a warning on all listings that carry such a risk, whether authentic or not.

Any one can pick up a blank card/ voucher, and list it, and disappear after selling a hand full... shame ebay for allowing the hoop hole.

Hyperthetically Lyndal, what would happen if you purchased these cards and they have been used? You would have no way of knowing, until you went into Myer and made your purchase and presented the card and "computer says No"  They are not covered by Payal, so you are basically buying a Blank Piece of Plastic.  Just a point to take into consideration.

That was my thought it could be a photo of an expired card.

They are genuine cards but these cards are usually purchased in bulk by big business bosses and then handed out to workers as a reward maybe for being a good worker. And it's mainly the black cards that are corporate cards with the higher value on them.

You pick them up at the supermarket, and then pay for them at the counter. Unless that payment is made on them, they are just for show..

David Jones, Myer, Itunes, all the same.  They are hanging on the aisles and you can just pocket them, worth nothing until you take them to the cash register. I bought the $100 david jones for someone last Xmas

So they can be brand new cards which have never had credit added to them. Kids use them for show in their wallets etc.

I have no idea what would happen as I would never purchase one on ebay.

As soon as you get the card you can check the balance on it on line....as far as I know all gift cards have that facility so you are not dependant on going to make a purchase at the cash register to find out whether you have been scammed or not.

In the absence of any other ideas I would be reporting a scammer to the online fraud squad.

Re: me thinks a scammer on the loose ?

That is exactly spot on. I think you would have to be daft, if you bought a $500 Card and payed via paypal from a seller who has only been Registered for a week.

Re: me thinks a scammer on the loose ?

Not only does the seller have 0 feedback, so does the high bidder, who has also retracted their bid, of $20 more than the face value.

Ive emailed the seller to request the card number, so I can verify it's value online.

Methinks a response won't be coming anytime soon!
