Why do so many buyers wait 3-4 days to pay for something (by Paypal) that costs $1.50?

Waiting til payday?  lol Drives me nuts!

OP i know exactly what you are getting at.   If i were you i wouldnt ask any opinons on here there are a hand full of know it all rude people that love to stir the pot.

Its the way people are now i have one person wanting to layby for 6 weeks on a $17 item.  I have someone put sold on 2 items for $4.50 and now she said she hasnt budgeted for it.   I know people are making ends meet but there is alot of people that just are plain irresponsible have NO idea how to budget and just stuff peoples time.  I applaud anyone selling in this ghost town anymore ive given up last year since their useless changes nothing sells.  I sell very very well on facebook and other free sites.  At least non payers dont cost me fees and one sided worthless feedback here.

Well, I have to admit, it would drive me nuts too.

Delays like that are taking things right to the very edge & as a seller, you have absolutely no way of knowing if they are eventually going to pay or not, so you have to keep watching and waiting instead of being able to tick it off the list and get the thing posted.

You can bet your bottom dollar though that the second they pay, they expect you to jump into instant action and if you muck around for 3 or 4 days before posting they will get very annoyed.

The person who said buyers buy these things because they are cheap, not because they are vital, probably has a point. It isn't high on their priority list & they are just slack.

Personally I find it hard to understand. They are on the computer so if it is buy it now, why not just pay for it and be done with it.

I know there are lots of non payers out there so a slack payer is better than that, but things have come to a pretty pass if you have to feel nothing but grateful and never a tad annoyed with snails.

*omgsoannoying* .... says it all really......  IT ANNOYS YOU!

Yet you have other options which you dont seem in a hurry to apply to your settings.

Can you please tell us why you are eager to get paid your $1.50 before 3-4days?
Is it easier for you?  Oh, is this ALL ABOUT YOU??????

so sorry.... carry on!  I thought sellers were happy to be getting ANY sales atm, but it seems you just want to whinge and complain about your buyers. Even over a measly $1.50!

P/S: adding lol to the end of your sentence, doesnt make it any less sarcastic!  LOL

fair bit of unneccesary angst against the OP in my opinion.

I agree that its disgraceful that people take 3-4 days (sometimes up to 8 days.. or not at all) to pay for items.

eBay isnt a lay-by or raincheck service

You dont go to the shops to buy something then say "yeah thanks i'll buy that.. you cant sell it to anyone else but i may pay you in a few days... or i may not.. but you still have to keep it there for me for 8 days... cheers"

It annoyed me... so i changed my settings to "automatic payment"

No more angst or worry about non/late payers anymore

btw if you are living on your last dime and sometimes cant pay your $1.50 immediately, then perhaps they shouldnt be buying off ebay at all? Of course we want them because.. you know.. SALES.. but someone who cant pay for a 2 dollar item straight away really should be looking at their priorities

I must admit sometimes I don't pay immediately - when I win an item for 99c or similar I feel so guilty I ask the seller if they want payment by bank deposit and if so send details - and mostly they don't answer, so I end up paying on the 2nd day.

Well yes, she was telling us how it makes her feel.

She wasn't saying she doesn't put up with it or that she is rude to buyers, just that she finds it frustrating.

This is a messageboard so each post is all about the poster's personal opinion, I guess. It's all about us.Woman Happy And why not.

I actually find it annoying (yes, this comment is all about meWoman Very Happy) when people harp on about anyone who dares raise an issue about goods that may only cost a dollar or two. It is as if they are saying the sum is so insignificant the person should disregard it.

But a seller goes to a bit of effort to list things, they pay commission and fees, they may have paid for the item itself. We could turn it around and ask why a buyer delays paying so long for a paltry $1.50. No one twisted their arm to bid.

I never knew there were options for sellers to demand immediate payment, I haven't struck it in my buying but for sure if i were selling smaller items I would consider ticking that box.

I suspect ebay will, sooner rather than later, opt into a system where all sales  (except perhaps pick up) only have a 24-48 hour settlement, because I suspect  saarzi isn't the only seller who gets annoyed by delayed payments.

Still don't understand if it is annoying to the OP or others on this thread why don't they just list with immeadiate payment required.

Given the shopping cart function is on the improve including on phone apps - a number of the barriers to listing this way have been removed.

easy peasy

really .... "disgraceful that people take 3 or 4 days"

my goodness .... as a buyer I am insulted by this comment.

I often don't pay a seller until day 3 or 4 after my original purchase  - I use this time to check out if a seller lists other items I might be interested in purchasing to take advantage of combined post.

Or if I am very busy (which I frequently am) wait til I am less busy to look through their other listings at a more leisurely pace.
