I learnt something recently that I was not aware of so thought I would share it as it has cost me $110 which I really am not pleased about. I sold an item early december, after payment by paypal I signed into the "View Order Details" section of ebay to get address, posted item thinking I had done everything right. The seller opened a dispute with paypal 3 days after I posted item saying they had not received it yet, mind you, I am in country Victoria and they are in sydney, express post takes 2 days to get anywhere, I sent a copy of the postage receipt to buyer stating they should at least wait a week before disputing but still no reponse. I replied in the paypal dispute section, the response was I should have sent item to the work address listed with paypal not the home address listed with ebay as the buyer often has parcels go missing from the home address, would have been nice to know this. To cut this saga short, the dispute was escalated when the buyer didn't receive item (or so we were told), after talking to paypal, they agreed I did have proof of sending item but as it was to the ebay address and not the paypal address they had to find in favour of the buyer and reversed the payment back to the buyer!!!! I ask, I have proven postage, they know it, the buyer admits that parcels go missing from home address, why are they still using it as ebay registered address, why did they not tell me to make sure item was sent to work, or better still, pay the extra $3 for registered post. This has left a bad taste in my mouth, christmas day I received a notice from paypal to get my balance out of negative or I may hear from debt collectors, so my warning to you all, PLEASE SEND ITEMS TO PAYPAL REGISTERED ADDRESS NOT EBAY REGISTERED ADDRESS. Why aren't we told this more often, the little paypal protection icons are everywhere, share the rules more openly please. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else because it was a very unpleasant experience after building up nearly 1200 positive feedback responses which went nowhere to help my case. Sorry for the longwinded post but I am annoyed that I was punished when paypal said they could see I had posted the item, they could see it was the buyers home address, they couldn't prove the buyer was telling the truth, but I am sorry, we have to reverse the payment!!! I must say in closing, the paypal operators were very easy to contact and talk to, although perhaps velvet sledgehammer is an appropriate term. Happy New Year everyone and may your ebay experiences be better than this one.

How to make a Seller Protection claim through PayPal
To be eligible for PayPal Seller Protection you must:
Sell on an eBay site and accept payment to your Australian PayPal account.
Post the item via an Approved Postage Service to the address specified by the buyer on the Transaction Details page.
In the event of a chargeback or reversal, provide proof of shipment.
What is “proof of shipment” and what forms of “proof of shipment” does PayPal accept?
Examples of proof of shipment include the following:
A copy of the postage receipt that includes the eBay buyer's delivery address. You can get this from Australia Post's Registered Post and Australia Post's Registered Post International, or
For Australia Post eParcel customers, a copy of the consignment information page which shows buyer’s address and the online tracking code that can be used to confirm delivery, or
A postage code that PayPal can use online to view the postage status and the eBay buyer's delivery address. You can get this from TNT, DHL, FedEx, and other carriers, or
A receipt issued by the carrier that is signed by the recipient acknowledging delivery
If you post your items to other countries PayPal Seller Protection applies to you as long as you sell items on an eBay site and your transaction meets the eligibility criteria.

Delivery addresses have NOTHING to do with either ebay or Paypal registered addresses.
How can anyone who has ever bought anything on ebay fail to realise that the link below your name and address top left to change said delivery address means it can obviously be changed after the item won/sold email has gone out?.

Thankyou!!! Until these forums I never knew otherwise . . . glad to know I'm not the only one!!! Where does it specify this by the way on eBay or Paypal? I want to know if it was in front of my face and I was too daft to notice or if it's in the fine print somewhere and not too obvious . . .
it is in every email PayPal send you when they acknowledge receipt of the buyers payment.... their email states......
"Thanks for using PayPal. You can now send any items. To view the transaction details, log in to your PayPal account.
It may take a few moments for this transaction to appear in the Recent Activity list in your Account Overview.
This item is eligible for Seller Protection.
To remain eligible, ship the item to the address confirmed below. We recommend using a shipping method you can track.
Please note, items delivered in person or to a different address are not covered by Seller Protection."

You can't be serious?
I cant understand why they would refund the money to the buyer even though you had a receipt of postage. Not just that, there is a history of items going missing from their home address. Why hasn't the buy changed his delivery address. Why did they not mention this to you.
I think paypal got this one wrong.

Please, read the topic properly, the item was posted to WRONG address. FULL STOP you do not get protection if you post to wrong address. :_|

Well look, I never knew you had to send to the paypal address until i took.... eeer my overpriced selling on ebay course. So luckily by the time i was selling i knew, but like i said, i only would have learnt from the course, reading the forums, or screwing up like the OP did. In fact even as a buyer who has has many addresses I ALWAYS changed/change my address in Ebay assuming my package would be sent to that address. I can see how anyone would presume the EBAY address was the correct address to send to. Mind you, it doesnt matter for me either cause i send as much as I can by stamp mail and come the day a package is lost ill just have to pay the price.

The buyer DID change the delivery address. At checkout. Which was forwarded to Paypal as the delivery address required for that purchase.
The OP learnt a lesson, unfortunately for them - only post to the address given by Paypal if the item is paid for using Paypal.
