"Checkout completed" but no payment

I sold an item that is payment by pickup or Paypal only. eBay has marked it "checkout completed" with no additional info, which in my experience I only see when it's a bank deposit (not an option here) or echeck (which I haven't received notification of).

How can it be marked checkout completed when I've not received payment? (the dollar sign etc. are greyed out so ebay knows I don't have any Paypal payment).

Did you have payment on pick up as an option, for cash payment? It sounds like the buyer selected something like that - it may clarify the payment method selected if you view the order details.

Does not really matter.

If the buyer pays with paypal it will show as paid and if they pay on pick up you can mark as paid.

For pick up items though cash on pick up after they have inspected the item is best for you as you can not prove postage if they pay with paypal and could lose your money if they open a dispute for item not received.

Thanks, checked the order and they selected pay on pick up, but they're in another state so they clearly made a mistake. Will have to cancel the order if they don't contact me.

Just send them a quick email mentioning your location.

They may be travelling to your area soon or have someone local who can inspect and pay.

Don't try to second guess your buyer, but if in doubt, seek clarification.
