I'm new to ebay and I have noticed Ebay allowing offers on my items. I don't want this. I price my items at an excellent price and most of what I sell are handmade. I don't want to sell any lower. Ebay sends me an email and I have to go to 'manage my offers' on every single item. How do I stop this from happening all together.
Thanks Lisa xoxox

Hmmm, I wonders whether there is more to this than meets the eye.
I visualise the Ebay bigwigs around the boardroom table, sipping Dom & slurping Beluga.
"Let's unilaterally impose best offer on some of the listings. We will also set the automatic acceptance price at 50% for a small percentage of sellers.
Then, when the miserable pips squeak, we can don our white knight costumes and respond to community uproar by agreeing to remove the automatic acceptance ( or set it at a higher percentage), which of course takes the focus away from the original imposition of best offers.. As always, we win, they lose..."

Pure manipulation! I have heard of everything now. Stick to your guns & bypass their "helpful hints". I think there is a link of theirs where you can ask them not to send that type of message again. It will come in as an email to you, but I definitely know I have seen it recently. They still attempt to interfere with my listings after 17 years but hey, it's a free country so far anyway!!! Go gal

Your post is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT ! I presume the movie would be rated as "horror" It would make millions at the box office, and be watched by all the poor unfortunates who sold on eBay and were impacted.

Same thiing has been happening to me, but this last time they did it without even telling me. I've had to add this message to each of my listings now that i can't even turn the option off....
Please Note: eBay has taken it upon themselves to change sellers listings without their consent to include the "Best Offer" option. This listing is not intended to include the "Best Offer" option, and I will automatically decline any offer below the "Buy-It-Now" price. Thank you for your understanding."

I think part of the issue is that eBay has kindly set up auto accept, so by the time you wanted to decline, the offer has already been accepted and the buyer thinks they have a bargain.
The other issue I see is that painful thread on the Buyers forum where you get buyers who now think their whole life is over because a "bargain" was ripped from them, and then refunded, forcing them into a ranting frenzy. We will see a massive influx of these people demanding that sellers be shot repeatedly for "violating eBay's policies". Even when they had no say in the item being sold.

This sort of disclaimer is all over Gumtree (which is also owned by eBay):
"Ridiculous low-ball offers will be ignored"
The practise is so rife on that site you'd spend all day explaining why you won't sell your $100 dollar item for $10.
