Hi there,
Im relatively new to selling on ebay. I was wanting to sell my old car on ebay as we've just purchased a new one. It's still running and registered but no RWC.
What i'm wondering is, do I have to get a RWC for the car to be able to sell it on ebay? I hear that you have to have RWC to be able to transfer the car to a new owner.
If not, should I leave it registered or can I cash the plates in and sell it unregistered?
Thanks!

It's not so much the ebay rules on this, more the state registration laws in your state.
You can sell it unregistered or registered with RWC as a RWC is required to transfer a registered car.
Some advertise as unregistered and leave the plates on so it can be test driven, then when sold take the plates off, hand them in and get a refund on rego. 😉

It depends what state you are in ie NSW you do not need a rwc to sell the car with rego or to transfer the rego you only need an invoice and the old rego papers filled out by the buyer and the seller
.... In Victoria you do need the RWC if you are selling the car with the plates.
What state you are in
....and....
what condition the car is in would guide my decision on how to run the vehicle

Good advice Colic, I sold a car on ebay with plates, prior to selling I had it checked so I knew there wasn't any major issues that would end up costing me more than I sold the car for and once sold I got the RWC to give to the buyer. It is up to you how you proceed (in Vic anyway).
