selling overseas

Hi all!  If I sell worldwide, does my domestic flat rate stay the same and the overseas one fluctuate according to location?  e.g.  if I sell something to someone in Sydney, I charge $6.00. (I charge this throughout Australia)

But if I list the item worldwide instead of just Australia, and someone in California buys it, I charge....what?

Does the postage part where you do your listings figure that part out for me?  I'm more than happy to sell overseas, but I'm not sure about the postage bit.  Also, how does PayPal work if the Californian buys my item?  Or anywhere for that matter?

Thanks in advance!

You can use calculated postage if you have accurate weights and measurements of packaged items, and in that case the postage shown (and charged) to international buyers varies according to their location (based on Australia Post rates, plus any handling fee if you enter one).

Or you can use flat rate, which means you have to quote a specific cost. You can still vary the amount according to location by selecting 'Choose Custom Location' in the international postage section, tick the country you want to quote for, and enter an amount. (For example, quote a flat $5 to post to New Zealand, then a flat $10 to post to the US).

If you are listing on the Australian site, the prices of your items will be in AU dollars, so the money an overseas buyer pays is converted automatically by PayPal to AU $'s and you receive the funds as normal.

I regularly sell overseas. I have my settings set to sell anywhere, but no overseas postage noted. If an overseas customer buys an item, the Australian post cost disappears and Ebay automatically request payment

invoice with postage left blank. I go to the AP website and do the calculations based on weight. and add it to the invoice. Ebay automatically do the currency conversions. It does pay to include insurance or tracking for anything over $40 -$50 incl postage as they do go missing occasionally ( not enough to be a big problem ) Particularly important in places such as Spain, Mexico Russia etc.
