so many non pay bidders !!! : (

What's the point of placing bid on auction if you are not going to pay for it?

Just to waste seller's time and listing fee?

I didn't set any buyer requirement before (I do now), and I end up with roughly 15 items laying there with no payment, all from the past 2 weeks.

How long do you guys wait till you open an unpaid item case? I normally wait for 1 to 1.5 week, is it too long / too short?

And is there any news whether ebay will do something about this?

all ebay ''do'' about it is to issue a strike for every NPB you open and close.

other
than that it is up to the individual Sellers to do something, such as put bidder blocks in place.

ebay say you can open a dispute after 4 days, so 1-1½ weeks is certainly time enough, open the disputes now,  close them in 4 days time.

Buyer gets winning bidder email, 48 hours later ebay send a reminder, day 3 I send an invoice with a note (politely) saying pay up within 24 hours or else then open the dispute at the end of the 4th day. They still have another 4 days and in my book if they need more than eight days to make payment they should ask before they bid!

Who cares? If you have so many non payers, odds are there will be that many more actual payers. Better than no bids or buyers at all.

Simple way to handle it - just send them a message after 3-4 days stating you haven't received payment and ask if they need any assistance. If no word for a few days, open a UPI and then set it to automatically close it if they do not pay after 4 days. You don't have to do anything then. At the end of it, you get your fees back and can relist the items.

I wait 7 days then send the nice polite reminder email.  If no response after another 3 days, then open unpaid item thingie.

I don't care if a buyer pays straight away or not, I just care that I get paid and I too used to wait a week but many of the late payers have just forgotten they had a bid on something or they only pay when you open a dispute, either way I no longer wait until later than 4 days.  If you don't open it until day 7 and they still don't pay it will take 11 days in total and any SCO will be too late.

I'm the same - as soon as I can open an unpaid item dispute I do it - and I send them an email asking them if they need more time. If they don't reply to that then as soon as I can close the unpaid item case I do.

If you sell less items maybe you can give a bit more attention to them to try and get them to pay but I've found that most of the time if they still want the item after the unpaid item dispute has been closed they'll be happy to still pay for it anyway.
