i think they have copied the rare etching and are now sending it back after getting the image they wanted of it
if they had said why it was not as described i would not think this, it was described as a print etching showing age
it was not described as something that was worth thousands of dollars or signed by the artist
it is most upsetting as they have made the dispute on the german ebay site as well and i have to deal with trying to translate it all
seems very unfair to the seller who has describe the item as best they could and the buyer has not asked one question before buying it
this has made me stop all oversea sales right away for fear of losing more money to this scam
is there any way to dispute their dispute? seems i have lost this rare image and postage fees
please help a small seller recover his rights

Assume they paid by paypal?
They must return the item before they are refunded.
Under no circumstances should you refund anything till you have it back and it is in the condition it was sent.

yes they used paypal - i have looked at other ebay problems like mine and it looks like
i lose the $50 postage that i paid to send the item and they get a copy of the picture for just the cost of sending it back
sounds an easy way to scam people out of images of rare art

the real way that you would be scammed is if they scanned the etching and made a high quality copy/print and substituted the copy for the original and returned the frame with copied image. You would then need to show PayPal that a scam has occurred. Some laser printers can print pretty good images . . . . . some are even being used to print fake currency.
