I did read somewhere that ebay now charge you for ending an auction early.

I just checked and I think that might only apply if the listing has bids and you have ended more than one early in the current calender year.
**In an effort to minimize disappointing experiences for buyers, we discourage you from ending too many listings early. If you've already ended another listing early during this calendar year, we may charge you an End auction-style listing early fee to end this listing. Learn more about fees for ending a listing early.**
I ended one early last week because I accidentally walked on the item and crushed it and there is no fee showing up in my account. I had previously ended items early this year, but this was the first one with bids on it.

So this would be another hidden charge as there is nothing on the page to say they may do this when ending an
item.
I ended eight items as they where auctions and they weren't even getting a watcher,(let alone a bid),
So I re-listed them as BIN's as there is no option to change them from auction to BIN.

Can you please provide more links to the AU site regarding this issue Chooks.
The page at the link you provided does not give the text you have copied.
In the US there are stricter rules about ending auctions early, including fees if an item has received a bid. Maybe you copied from there?
