i'm sure a lot or most of you probably received the managed payments email this morning. in case you didn't, or missed here - ebay is rolling out managed payments later in the year with pre-registration opening shortly.
more info is located at https://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/managed-payments

I got it. I haven't done it yet. And probably won't.
eBay surveys generally provide options that range from bad to worse. They are definitely slanted to enable them to claim that the majority prefer xxx. Where xxx is predetermined by eBay to be the way they are going to go.

Was it an older thread?
When managed payments was in its earliest stages (about 2 years ago) sellers who opted in were given a way to opt out, but it from what I read, eBay made it extraordinarily difficult (you had to phone them to do it manually, but apparently they were generally pretty reluctant to follow through and opt the seller out - likely because it's a pretty significant change to listings and payment processes, so not like flipping a switch on and off etc).
I'd be surprised if opting out was a possibility now, since the whole thing is mandatory (if not now, eventually).
Re: the article linked above, I just wanted to share this quote from it, emphasis mine:
"The seller also asked, "Will their GTC listings roll over, or will they end at the end of their current 30 day time frame?"
A moderator responded:
"I'm not able to discuss specifics when it comes to this aspect of the managed payments transition. If you are registered (or have received a notice to register) you should consider requesting a call back from a payments trained teammate (link here)."
If details about the payments program are so difficult to grasp that eBay's regular forum moderators can't answer questions about it, that may indicate a problem with Managed Payments."
At the (seemingly ever constant) risk of being pegged as an eBay employee again, and / or offending anyone who likes the website.... These people aren't journalists, but biased bloggers, who are obviously happy to completely misrepresent what has been said (or more specifically, assert an implied meaning that may or may not be accurate, then speculate as to what that might mean), while directly quoting above what was said, and for this they attract a suitable audience / commenters, JMHO. Occasionally they can provide interesting info / meaningful insight, but every time I see stuff like this, I have to write them off as a source than can be taken seriously.
