Hi , i sold a radio, 5 bands..the buyer recieved it, and gave me negative feedback straight away, stating, no power cord and cant get FM, which is a lie, for one the cord is attached to the radio, its not a push in or pull out..and how can he state No FM..if he says there was no cord, how would he have turned it on?? at no time, did the buyer, try and contact me , to resolve this, and i know he didnt because he is trying to scam me, because the next step will be he will do a pay pal claim, hence he will try and keep my radio, and get his money back through pay pal. what I am really upset about is I contacted ebay, telling them all that happend, and that if he contacted me first, i would have said send it back, and i will refund, but the buyer has not tried to contact me at all.. and ebay, say they cant remove the negative feedback, because it doesnt come under there rule thing,, i am at a loss here, the buyer is going to scam me and get away with it, and ebay takes no responsability. has anyone else come across this situation? and any advise please.

If he opens a not as described case with Paypal you can require him to return it, by trackable means, at his expense. As he has already left a negative and is unlikely to revise it when he finds out he has to pay return shipping, just suck it up. This way you get to keep the money, which is why I sell.

What Dave said.
and if you have to keep the negative, post a factual unemotional follow-up that explains the situation to prospective buyers.
i.e, non-detachable power cord, FM band works on this model
or something similar to neutralise the negative ๐

Thanks for your reply, I thought before he was able to leave negative feedback, that ebay would have said, "have you tried to resolve the problem with the seller" because he never messaged me at all, but thanks as long as if he tries to put in a claim as not as decribed, pay pal will allow me to request that he return it before any refunds are done, then thats fine, as he wont return it, because the cord is attached to the radio, how can it not be there, unless aust post cut it off, this is crazy.. anyway if that happens i will request tracking, as i paid for tracking and i payed for signature at my expence, as thats my safety guard.

Yes.
And if it's returned in original condition, there is no guarantee he will win the dispute. In which case you have the item plus the $. Though I would refund the $ less ALL costs - listing, FVF, Paypal

The way a Paypal claim works is that by default he will need to send it back to you with proof, that is, tracking.
Paypal would hold the payment amount of the item and initial shipping i.e. Freeze that amount in your account, then release it as a refund to the buyer only when they have returned. If as Dave says, the claim closes in their favour because Paypal sees it was returned back to you.

I don't think that's quite right - an INAD claim can be defended and won by the seller, in which case the buyer keeps the item and doesn't get a refund.
If a claim is decided in the buyer's favour, then they are told to return the item to get a refund (in most circumstances).
Sometimes, a seller will not fight the dispute and just accept the return / refund.

Replying to that bit as a done deal.
Ah, sorry - I thought you were referring to PayPal claims in general.
OP, as you've agreed to / offered the return, it will go as amber mentioned, but as a sidenote (just for future reference), if you truly think a claim is fraudulent, the best thing to do is fight it - I say that because if you fight and lose, you're in the same position as you would have been anyway, but if you fight and win, A) the buyer doesn't get away with it and B), you're granted automatic seller protection if a credit card chargeback is later filed (on the onus that any offers made to the buyer during the dispute process were fulfilled).
