Hi
I recently sold 2 brass horns both marked as pick up only and specifically wrote in the description as well pick up only, and the suburb of pick up.
One sale went very smoothly with the person coming from the other side of the city and promptly picking up the item no probs.
The other I received a paypal payment, to which I emailed back stating did they know they had no protection from paypal for a pick up item, but not to worry gave them my mobile number to arrange a time for them to pick up.
I heard nothing for a few days, so emailed them today asking if they could give me a time frame for pick up...they emailed straight back giving me their address and saying they would pick it up from their post office??
I emailed back again restating its pick up only, and if they are unable to pick it up then I can refund there payment and mutually end the transaction - is there anything else I can do?Ive taken snap shots of the listing to see if there is something that went wrong saying postage, but all says local pick up only - no post...what am I missing? It did finish friday afternoon if that could mean something??
I have worked hard to maintain my 100% feedback and I it concerns me it potentially is ruined over someone not reading the listing or emailing me prior to ask (and the answer would be no post)
thanks for any advice

You are within your rights to refund the payment. The buyer has somehow missed where it states Pick Up Only or has ignored it and wants the item to be posted. You may receive unfair feedback but you don't need to post it. Don't send a Mutual Cancellation request until the buyer agrees to accept it first.

I would not worry about your FB, if the buyer leaves NEG eBay will almost certainly remove it if you call them and explain that the buyer has bid on "pick up only" item and without asking first wanted it to be posted. Refund the payment and then ask them if they will accept mutual cancellation; do not send one unless they acknowledge your message and promise to agree (you only have so many per year). Should they not do as promised, call eBay and they should give you your FVF back anyway.

If you get a neg about refusing to post it, Ebay will probably be open to removing it. main thing is dont get into a slanging match with buyer so they neg you over a less specific issue, and hence harder to remove it

Negs rarely result from a misunderstanding by itself, rather its from the escalation of attitude that sometimes results

What do you mean there is no protection from paypal for a pick up item. Maybe thats what made them unsure. Maybe they felt that statement ment u were doing a dodge. What made u send that response anyways

Paypal protection only covers items that are posted. The seller has done nothing wrong. It's a pick up only item so the buyer should not have won it.

the Seller is informing the buyer about PayPal rules, nothing more.
there is no point in a Seller paying PayPal a commission on a sale where there is no Seller or Buyer protection.
the best protection for a pickup only sale is Cash on Collection after Inspection

Good advice by supa_nova. Make sure to check if there is no way they can pick up the item. If not, ask them if they'd like to Mutually Cancel the transaction. Provided you give them every opportunity to pick up the item and do all of the normal customer service things, any neg you receive will be removed. You're perfectly fine and needn't worry.

For some strange reason each listing had slightly different postage details quoted at the top of the page underneath the auction price.
This is the first one -
Postage:
Free Local Pickup | See details
Item location:
Essendon, Australia
Posts to:
Local pick-up only
This is the second one -
Postage:
Local pick-up offered. | See details
Item location:
Essendon, Australia
Posts to:
Australia
This second one definitely has a 'Posts to' option whereas the first one doesn't - makes it look like the buyer has a choice. Maybe this is the cause of the misunderstanding...
