when does your "throttle" come on

Convinced that throttling is occuring..and it happens at a certain time for us..at around our billing cycle..just after our store invoice has been paid..when we start paying for extra listings..no sales..nothing..past 6 months same thing..then like many describe "the lights are turned back on" sales start happeneing..maybe this an approach Ebay uses to gouge more money from us...and like a You tube video we saw from a USA ebayer who argues you have a stretch of sales to keep your interest up and then..all of sudden nothing...it wasnt nothing like this  about 3-4 years ago and this was on or close to the GFC...

Ah, ok, so probably not related to fee payments. Back to the drawing board... (I suck at drawing Smiley LOL )

Regular one off payments. As soon as I notice there are fees owing, or my account is getting close to zero credit, I top it up.

I am always in credit.... I dont like owing anything, so if Im a bit low on cash or theres an emergency and I forget all about Ebay, Im still in front.

I have recently noticed on two payments no sales after. But could be a coincidence - in general, I dont know.

Did the 'no sales' only last 2 or 3 days as in digi's case ?  If so, maybe not so coincidental . . . . .

. . . . . . .  and month-on-month sales figures seem to have something of a cap, but are still steadily increasing. Often, after a payment is made, I'll have a quieter day or two, then a very busy day or two, then things go mostly back to normal.

If anyone is willing and/or able to try making regular fee payments for a while (eg a month or two, to see of it effects any distinguishable change), I'd be very curious to know the result, as right now it's just a theory based on my limited (circumstantial) evidence.

That is what I wish for - an increase in sales $' caps  !  When I first started coming to the boards & read about sales caps, I thought fair enough from a safety & security point of view it helps ensure sellers are genuine and not just here to scam buyers BUT to my disappointment it doesn't seem my sales caps are being raised, well not significantly at least - but the number of sales to achieve the same $'s has certainly increased considerably,  just not the monthly dollar values.

My increases have taken a couple of years - what's happened the last two years is that sales will be relatively consistent through the year, not much fluctuation in $'s each month, anyway, but every few months, I'll see a 5-10% rise, then in the few months leading up to Christmas, sales will really take off (double, triple, sometimes quadruple earlier month's figures).

Each year, I thought it was just the Christmas rush, and as soon as Christmas was over, I'd go back to my normal sales, but I never did. Sales do drop, but I expected them to at least halve after quadrupling, but I saw maybe a 20% drop in January this year, then the same 5-10% increase over the last few months, which is suggestive of something.... I just don't know what. Smiley Frustrated

I wish I could pinpoint at least some contributing factors, but the fee payment thing was my only theory (aside from the usual stuff, regular listing, more new stock etc).

Uh huh.  My stats are quite similar to yours around Christmas.

2013/4 I saw steady increases until November, when November almost doubled, then December almost double again, January only slight drop off, Feb down again slightly - March & April back to pre Oct. Christmas levels.  May, nearly double (rubbing my hands now hoping for the same this year - but not double this years April - you know what they say double 0 is still 0 !  Slight exaggeration)

June July down, August double again, Sept almost nothing at all !  Then again, quadrupled for Oct., doubled that November, dropped off but still around 80% for December, halved in January, up about 40% February, dropped off again March by about 25% and down about 50% on that this month.

I'm no mathematician, but the only similarities I am seeing are perhaps March & April, but overall there seems to be little consistency or patterns - well not on overall months anyway. and I don't have figures to break it down any further.

Actually, in my second year a lot of the figures seem to be one month out - so December sales figure 2014 was very similar to November  this year (within $3)  & January 2014 was very close to December 2015 ($26 difference). Mmmmm, nah, that doesn't ring true all year - I'll join you at the drawing board, lol Smiley Happy

I pay regularly several times a week. I only got throttled once when everything went off for about 4 weeks then came back on. Didn't pay any fee amounts while it was

Something has gone wrong. In this past week our sales have plummeted from 15 or so per day to now lucky to see 5 per day. We have never seen it like this in the 3 years we've been selling on here. Even our auctions are getting pretty near zero views. Just crazy.

Same here clarry. Averaged 22 sales per week in April yet so far this month I've only made 4 sales in the last week. So whose business is it that I'm really running, mine or eBay's? I just wish they'd p!ss off and leave everything alone (as if that'll ever happen). ๐Ÿ˜ž

I've only posted 3 things this week. Have one item with a bid. Some items have had 20 page views, others 0 (not even the bots have looked at them!!). As nice as it is to sell stuff, it's actually nice (for me) having a bit of a slow patch.
