I have just had a bad experience with a non payer who won several of my items and after 3 weeks of saying "I will pay next week" turned around to say they had changed their mind and no longer wanted the items. After reading feedback for this member I found that there were more negative posts than positives about this buyer!!! My question is why can't sellers leave negative feedback? If we had been able to leave negatives, instead of negative comments as a positive wouldn't ebay be able to do something about pest time wasting buyers like this sooner???

I agree with those saying that sellers should be able to leave neg. feedback.
I remember back in the day when sellers could leave whatever feedback they liked- and to me it seemed like a much more open honest system.
I was a buyer only then, and the idea that I could get negative feedback made me much more conscious to hurry up and contact the seller, pay, and get the ball rolling.
So what? You guys think the double standard is ok?
Sometimes we don't think the sun shines out of the buyer's...
I'd rather hear opinions from both side, than to be forced to leave positive FB or shut up.
How is that fair?
I have been selling on eBay a while and had my first NPB this month - 2 items a week apart from one another - a total of $700.
He had a positve feedback score of 305, neutral 0, negative 0.
Of course his feedback was private.
That's the first time I've come across a private feedback score - And this concept is grossly unfair.
I understand the process of blocking users, etc.. But I believe it should go back to the old system.
Free Speech!

I get quite a few non payers, at least 2 or 3 a month on a quiet month. They are pretty much just annoying to me, nothing else. I go through the UPI process and move on. Last year I had a nasty one where after 2 weeks she didn't pay (for 5 items.. about $70 worth) and left negative feedback when I sent a message asking her if she wanted the items still or if she'd prefer to cancel the transaction! I was pretty cut up because I have 100% positive feedback. After a few stern but polite emails to ebay it got removed (and no trace was left) and I place the problem person on my block list. So I still have my 100% positive and I'm happy. She was very nasty though and it left me quite jaded. I just moved on and tried to focus on my good buyers.
The problem I am having now is far worse though. Because I sell small, lightweight and relatively cheap items, I post in an envelope to keep the postage down ($1.50-$2 within Australia). The problem with this is that I don't have tracking available, to have this would require a substantial increase in my postage. If someone buys multiple items I do offer this, but not many people buy lots of items so envelopes it is.
Now I am being hit with Charge-backs, no contact from buyers, 1 week from sale date, wham! Email from Paypal stating that they have got news from the buyers bank that they have claimed the transaction was unauthorised. I don't really have a leg to stand on here, but this kind of thing is happening more often and I am afraid a few peoples dishonest actions are going to force me to drive up my postage prices (and probably lose business.)
So while I sympathise with your frustration of non paying buyers, wait until it actually starts costing you more than a couple of dollars and see how vexed you get then!

Report them to the police online fraud area. And tell them you are going to do it. You'll be amazed at how many missing items suddenly appear.
If we were allowed to leave negs for buyers, the buyers would just open new accounts. The current system allows us to block buyers on the strength of NPBs against them from other sellers (provided the sellers follow procedure). Far better, imo.

Re: BUYERS WHO DON'T PAY
Seems my post has been removed already. For all of those "holyer than thou" who posted nasty comments, the item was sold for my 86 year old Mum who was soooooh excited to sell it, only to find that the bidder with EXCELLENT feedback was pipped at the post in the lasts 4 seconds by a NON PAYER. Try telling my Mum that she can't have the money, and don't even think about saying you can "relist in 4 days", or "it happens all the time". I hate to see her so disappointed, so I will give her the money. Perhaps if more sellers united it would not be such a common problem. Thanks to all of the people who sent support, to the others, don't be so quick to judge.
You have been beaten at your own game and if you are seen violating a policy again you will be dealt with again. You have shown yourself to be worse than your non payer because you have stooped so low. Don't try to justify yourself here.

Also, if you open an unpaid dispute & close it within the timeframe, they'll receive a strike. Once they receive so many strikes they could be suspended from ebay or at least have their account restricted.
The non buyer that is highlighted by the original poster.... I would posit has
.....somewhere between.......
200 and 500 NPB strikes ...in one month
They bid on and won 590 items in June...do you think that qualifies as a restricted account ???
I agree with one thing in your post.. the "so many" bit
... If it wasn't for the neg pos leavers then it would all be hidden.... however thanks to those sellers that opened and closed disputes and then left a remark to warn other sellers ebay's dirty washing is out on display
Check out the original posters feedback...find the negative positive they left for a non payerand then check that non payers feedback from other sellers. Open the feedback page to 200 comments and then come back and tell me
"a buyers account can be restricted" with a straight face
.. bet you can't..

Just to let everyone know Scully and Mulder didn't knock my door down last night. colic2bullsgirlore makes some good points, but no one wants to listen. I hadn't been on the forum before, so I took a look around. Here's what I found:- There are a small few people who spend a lot of time on there, and seem to have expert opinions on everything. But those in glass houses:-
e.g. deja-vu-items has a buyer whose feedback to her reads "I didn't appreciate your rudeness and called a liar". It appears deja-vu-items doesn't like it when someone doesn't pay her, I guess it's ok to be rude then. They also leave negative feedback for a seller who has (yes, violated policy) by leaving negative comments under the positive feedback about them. Could that be why deja-vu-items is so set against sellers being able to leave negative feedback for buyers.
Doesn't like high handling fees either, which brings us to the next one:-
phorum-junkie writes in a forum "I always do an on-line quote with pack and send for their most expensive, fully tracked and insured delivery method. (It usually comes in at over $100 even for quite small things)". This one has recommended this method in 2 different forums. Wow, that's looking after the customers isn't it?
colic2bullsgirlore caught them out, calling them "hypocritical when the shoe's on the other foot" after phorum-junkie commented on another Seller's postage.
foxette-in-sox has lots to say, but chooses to keep their feedback private. There must be lots of nice things on there that they don't want anyone to see.
thecatspjs - I lOVE THIS ONE! Very funny person, keep up the good work. You have lots of intelligent, relative comments without any of the backstabbing.
So there you have it. I for one won't be reading any more, I'm going to take your advice and "get over it". I suggest you do the same, but I bet the daggers will be out tonight.
