im sick of people who dont pay for items then again why should they pay for a item if there is no comeback? besides getting a strike! force buyers to pay a 10% deposit like a normal auction that why if they dont go ahead with purchase without a good valid reason they will loose the deposit. surely ebay has looked into this? otherwise more people are not going to pay for items they won at auction.

If you have buyers who don't pay, what makes you think they'll pay the fee in the first place?

That would just put off bidders.

Too hard to implement with the amount of trans on here as you would get disputed claims.
The answer, I think, is to become more strict on repeat non payers. That way we weed out the few that spoil it.
But the more sellers are becoming aware of putting blocks in place, the more buyers with strikes can't buy or bid.

firstly I was an auctioneers assistant for most of my working life and never once did we take a deposit from registered bidders.
secondly, eBay is an advertising medium, they do not hold the items and they do not hold or transact any money. and although they do facilitate a Timed Auction Style of selling, it is not an AUCTION, they do not describe the items, or even see the items, they are not AUCTIONEERS,

if people are put off by this why are normal auction houses full of bidders? not there for fun thats for sure! you dont want to know who much pickles auctions make in bidders who pay deposit then dont pay the balence and yes they get to keep the deposit according to the law.

im getting bidders with good 100% feedback that dont pay or even bother to make contact. so much for blocking " bad " bidders.

ebay is not a auction? err dont think so! if i wanted to sell at fixed price i go to quicksales, carsales or gumtree and not pay high reserve price fees.

so do you open a non paying dispute for every one of them?
do you close those disputes after 4 days and allow ebay to issue a strike?
do you have all bidders blocked who have more than 1 strike in last 12months?
these are the measures to take to help avoid non payers, and for a lot of sellers these measures work pretty well.
