this is the only problem i have on ebay and thats the postage costs

this is in a satchel addressed to him

so now what do i do? i said i wasnt happy about this and pointed out it was only another $4.70 to send this too WA, WHEN I DO SELL SOMETHING WHAT POSTAGE DO I QUOTE? as every state is different

i dont sell to overseas now as people complain about the postage from Australia people want you to post items really cheap?

Re: winner want cancel

If you use the calculated option, that will show the postage cost to the postcode of the member that purchases or looks at your listing.

And in the International section select No International postage.

Now go to resolve a problem and send a mutual cancellation in which the buyer needs to accept.

When he does, you get your fee credited back and you are free to relist.

Re: winner want cancel

You can send a 3kg Satchel anywhere in Australia for $11.70.  A 500 gm Satchel will cost $7.15 with ebay postage label a little more with Aus Post prepaid satchels.

If you are sending the parcel registered  (this is your Paypal protection) then why should your buyer pay for your protection.

Unfortunately it is against ebay Policy to ask for more money after the auction has finished so your options are:

Send the parcel at the winning price and postage.

Agree to cancel the transaction and hope you don't get a red dot.

i added a note on the bid saying postage was a quote only and i would get the proper cost

when you put a note does the buyer see this ?

Re: winner want cancel

the point is you are suppose to have correct postage in the listing. You are not allowed to add on postage if you miscalculate it. I would be peeved to if I was the buyer.
Get a set of scales, weigh the items and set up your postage as calculated. The buyer will then see the postage based on their location.

Some of your postage is way expensive. You could send a lot of what you are selling for $7.50 + 1.20 tough bag with some bulbble wrap.

Re: winner want cancel

Are you familiar with the various prepaid, flat rate or ebay postage label options?

It makes life a lot easier! Some of your toys look quite collectible to me and may

travel better in boxes (you can get special flat rates through ebay). Even the big

Bx4 boxes are around $15 flat rate Australia wide processed through ebay.

While I agree the seller has other options available to reduce costs I don't necessarily think they should be encouraged to mail collectibles (especially those listed as mint condition) in just a 'tough bag' or soft satchel. If the item genuinely is mint then it is in the best interests of the seller to package it in such a way that is more likely to arrive in the same condition, and this may mean using a sturdy box.

Re: winner want cancel

I agree regarding collectables in a satchel - but that's what the OP said in her post - that the item was being sent in a satchel.

The problem seems to be that the OP hasn't been using flat rates - and obviously didn't use 'calculated' postage either.

It is going to be so much better for seller and buyer if the postage costs are very clear and included in the listing, not just a random figure as a guide.

OP: is there a reason you can't send your Howard bobblehead in a small Bx1 box via your ebay account for $7.15 (that is flat rate Australia wide). That would HALVE the cost of postage you have on the listing and you wouldn't have to worry about messing around getting different quotes afterwards (not to mention making it look more affordable is going to entice buyers...)
