Customer non-service

I am writing this post because I have become totally frustrated with the non-service that eBay provides. I have been a member for some years but I now feel like eBay is doing everything possible to frustrate me.

I have received numerous emails advising me that my account is on hold and that I need to update my details, which I have done numerous times. I finally tried to get them to call me (because you can't call them) but I received two emails saying:

'We tried to contact you, but weren't able to reach you at the phone number on file, because either:

  • The call was not answered.
  • The call reached a voicemail.
  • The call reached a busy signal.
  • The number called was wrong or disconnected.'

Interestingly, I was sitting next to the phone the whole time and no attempted call has been recorded.

eBay is withholding a payment from me from last October because I supposedly haven't complied with their requests, which is absolute rubbish.

This is the worst possible service a business can provide. I think my next move will be to go to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. If anybody has found a way to circumvent the eBay non-service, please let me know.

Have you checked that all details they have on file are true and correct?

Your bank account has to be in the exact same name as your ebay account

Definitely double check everything is correct to the "nth" degree as per what @stawks says. You cannot have a business name on your bank account if you're signed up in your personal name etc.

I had an issue initially too - the name that I registered with on Ebay in 2003 was just a shortened version of my first name - think "Jo", instead of "Joanne", for example.

My initial sign up was on hold and it took me a few days to work out that it was because of my registered name. Once I corrected that, and resubmitted it was approved fairly quickly.

As you have been a member for over 16 years, could it be that you changed your phone number and didn't update it in your account settings? Try Account Settings - Personal Information and see if your info is up-to-date.
