Hi there,
Opened account 1999 (no .au site back then), skip forward and wanting to purchase ebay+, no good. I receive an error stating that I need to pay in Australian dollars and that I need to log into the US website.
I've contact customer service 3 times,
*1st contact was advised that this is not possible and that I would have to delete this account and create a new one.
*2nd contact was advised that my request would be escalated to a team for assistance to update my account creation origin from US to AU and that this would take up to 10 days to have corrected, after 14-15 days not update or contact from ebay
*3rd contact was advised that the person updated my details and that I would need to wait 24hrs for a change to take affect - this time as passed and still unable to purchase plus.
I know a few people who where in the same predicament as I am in and when contacted ebay, they have had their account (creation origin from US to AU) updated.
Any suggestions out there? eBay are you able to assist with this?
Cheers.

ebay rarely read here, just so you know.
But I'm confused. This account says you are registered in Australia.
When you contact ebay, ask to speak to a supervisor, otherwise the CS staff just read from their screen and don't really deal with the problem.
'Escalating' and 'waiting for things to be corrected' is their way of giving you the answer you want to hear.
Try here to change your registration -

Also, I don't think you purchase enough for ebay plus to be of any benefit IMO

Thanks for your contribution.
it's the creation of the account back then that has 'locked' my region/country.
When purchasing plus or updating payments, I receive this error 'Sorry, this program is currently only available for users registered on eBay.com.au and whose billing currency is Australian Dollars.'
Cheers.

@takashi10, this has come up again and again … that eBay accounts created in one country can have every aspect of the address changed except for the country.
If somehow it’s now showing the country as Australia, that’s new! I’ve not seen or heard of its being possible… but I would guess that at some level (probably unseen), your account is still being seen by the technical architecture as “US”. This probably cannot be remedied.
I think you’ll simply need to create a new eBay account, with country of registration Australia.

26 years of membership, with 65 buying feedback.
Open a new account with the relevant Australian details. It's not like you would be losing useful feedback.

Really? You obviously don't understand the benefits of eBay Plus.
With an annual fee of $49 and multiple discounts of up to $100 available throughout the year, one needs to purchase as few as one item within 12 months for eBay Plus to be beneficial.

I really don't think that one purchase will get that $49 back.
And there's been multiple buyers coming here screaming that their discount hasn't gone through.
So, that's all I know.

The only way a discount isn't applied is if the buyer were to complete checkout without adding the discount code. If they're stupid enough to pay full price rather than using a discount code, then that's on them. It's their own personal choice.
Recently, I personally chose to use a $50 off code on one single purchase. It really doesn't matter if you think that can't happen, because regardless of whatever you think, I can assure you that it most certainly does happen.
As little as one single purchase can (and does) provide a positive benefit. To say that someone doesn't purchase enough to receive any benefit is akin to saying they do not purchase anything at all on eBay within a 12 month period.
