Ebay thinks I'm a Bot ???

Trying to browse eBay today is quite tedious...

I am constantly getting the following message:

Pardon our interruption...

As you were browsing eBay, something about your browser made us think you were a bot. There are a few reasons this might happen:

  • You're a power user moving through this website with super-human speed.
  • You've disabled JavaScript in your web browser.
  • A third-party browser plugin, such as Ghostery or NoScript, is preventing JavaScript from running.

Is anyone else experiencing this error ????

I have tried multiple browsers and even multiple operating systems (Apple, Linux, Windows) and get the same result.

The issue only started today.

Fridays are known to be problematic with eBay doing site maintainance on that day. Just try again later.

Ebay thinks I'm a Bot ???

This message appears to have been caused by Distil -- a third party tool that eBay and other sites use to prevent bots from scraping content. Sometimes it can be triggered by blocking javascript, by repeatedly interrupting page loads or by interrupting a page load in a very particular way by chance.

It appears that Distil has recently changed something, as there have been several similar complaints on the US discussion boards.

See this US ebay.com thread for some info:

I'm amazed that it doesn't pick me up all the time.
