I'm having trouble logging into Ebay and I am not the only one. This happens with IE11.

I have been uable to log into Ebay for 3 days. This happens when I am using IE11 but I can hoever get in using Microsoft Edge.

I have read from other users on a technical forum that they have the same problem.

I really don't feel I have to use another browser as suggested by people on that forum as I have been using IE for many years.

The problem I suggest is with Ebay rather than IE.

Is Ebay aware of this problem and if so when will it be fixed?

Re: I'm having trouble logging into Ebay and I am not the only one. This happens with IE11.

I am using win7 / ie11. and this login issue started late Thursday morning 17/10/19.

After going down the chat route, getting the usual delete coockie, browsing history, use alternate browser etc... as the chat people could open my account with no issues. On saturday they suggested to try ebay.com (us parent site) rather than ebay au, and it worked just like it used to using ie11. So it was not ie11 at fault.

That proved 100% that it was an ebay au login problem.

Unfortunately on Monday morning the same thing happened to ebay.com and I can no longer login there either.

Have ebay.com done the same 'update' as ebay au?

I have since set up firefox to run alongside ie11, and can now log in again.

Firefox starts and loads much faster than ie11, and I no longer have compatibility problems like videos 'not playing in this browser' (ie11) . I'll continue to run them both for a while, but I think the sun is about to set on ie11.

What a pity that ebay didn't have the decency to tell us that ie11's 'use by' date was almost up, like some social media sites are already doing.

IE's use by date was set many years ago. eBay stopped supporting it at about 8. What a pity you didn't switch to a useful browser way back then.

It was reported as far back as early 2014 that ebay was not working properly with the early versions of IE.

In 2016 ebay announced that anything earlier than IE8 was not supported at all.

I am sure I read somewhere early this year that IE was no longer supported at all by ebay.  In view of the increasing number of complaints appearing on the boards it would appear to be correct.

It seems to me that 5 years is plenty of notice to change your browser for optimum use of ebay.
