Item disappeared at close of auction

I was watching the end of an auction I had decided not to bid on. At the exact moment of the end of the auction the page changed to one with a message saying "The listing you're looking for is no longer available. Check out this similar item we found for you". Below that was a listing for a slightly similar item. I tried to go back to the original listing, now finished, without success, and a search of completed items using the full title of the original item copied and pasted from my original bookmark returned no hits.

These are strange happenings. Has anyone experienced similar?

Can happen when eBay remove an item for breachiing the rules or an account has been hijacked.

This is what happens now that ebay has been fiddling with the site.

As soon as a listing ends it goes poof and in it's place you are given another "similar" item you may like.  I had had another listing from the same seller thrust under my nose and when I clicked on it it too had ended.

To see the item you were watching go to the top of the page where it says "this listing has ended......" and hit the word listing.
