Log in verification issue for me

I am visually impaired. Whenever I do maintenance on the pc (clear cache etc) I need to log into regula sites again.

My problem with Ebay is that the verification part is visual

Every other site offers either a code sent by email/sms, or audible option. I live in Australia so I don't know if other areas offer anything other than visual but I ask if Ebay will ever add an audible option.

I do run the incaptcha part first and in past occasions it was sufficient but it has changed to the visual wall being unavoidable.

Many Thanks

Not sure why you have to go through a verification process to get in after clearing cache? Maybe I'm missing something, but wouldn't it just be a normal log in?

It should only be a matter of putting in your current password.

Normally you would just have to log in again. Maybe you are using an incognito broswer, or a new browser.

Re: Log in verification issue for me

Thankyou for your reply.  I have been using Chrome all along. Every so often I use Chromes "Clear browsing data" to clear out accumulated cookies & other gunk.

I expect to re-log in to signin based  sites that I use as all my prev login info would have been cleared by the browser de-gunking  ..effectively giving me a clean sheet again.

The "2-step" authentication is expected & doesn't both me as I mentioned initially. I  get email/sms codes  or the option of  audio phrases.

With ebay though, I have that incaptcha process to do first.. "get cookie, set cookie" then once confirmed, overtype  with the ebay website ..and simply log in normally.

But now I get the "are you human"checkbox followed by the "select images" grid.

Apart from somehow fumbling my way through it after some fails, it became all too frustrating realizing there is no alternate option offered.

Sorry for the long winded reply, and a thankyou to the other respondents to my issue.

If ebay adds an audio option I'll shut up.

I do too, that's what we get for cleaning cookies....it's fairly standard practise

No, after a clean, I would do the incaptcha process first, which loads the validation cookie 1st, then login to ebay without further issue.

Re: Log in verification issue for me

When you erase your eBay cookies, you are basically telling eBay to treat you like you have never signed in to eBay using that browser before, so eBay will take you at your word and require you to go through verification again, and eBay will likely send you an email telling you a new device has been used to sign in to your eBay account.

Likewise if you have a saved a Captcha accessibility cookie in your browser; erasing that cookie will require you to go through the process again to establish that you are human again to get a new cookie.

Your browser should let you clear just your browser cache -- all the "cached images and files" stored locally on your computer so you do not need to load new files from eBay over the network every time you go to a different page, which would slow things down considerably. Those cache files may need to be cleared from time to time to resolve various issues.

But you certainly should be able to clear your browser cache without at the same time deleting your browser cookies or site data which would require you to sign in with username and password to all the sites you had been signed in to again.

Re: Log in verification issue for me

Thanks for your response, but I understand all that.

If you re-read the captcha post. it clearly says to download its cookie  then I can go into ebay as usual and login with id/pw.

What my previous post also clearly says .. because it's captcha's own words, is that the post login validation will be avoided.

What's hard to grasp?... It always worked, now it doesn't .. same process.

The answers I get treat me like a computer novice... unbelievable as I regularly clear out accumulated cookies & sign in afresh.
