"Recommended for you" - how do I get rid of them?

Having a problem, which may sound like a joke, but is rapidly becoming a serious issue in my workplace...

On the Home page, there are several "Recommended for you" areas, based (I presume) on previous searches. On the home page for our company's account, one of the categories is "Magazines". This has a slide windoiw which dsplays five items, clicking on the arrow to the left displays another five items.

And in that little slide window, among various motoring and automotive magazines, are appearing several soft-porn items like Playboy and Penthouse. The boss occasionally logs into eBay to check on various items, and is furious at being confronted by these.

How do I get rid of them or (better yet) the entire category?

I've tried loading up a few dozen items in the same category, in the hope of pushing the soft-porn rubbish out the door. Works for a day or two, and then they're back. I've looked through "Recently viewed", and am only seeing stuff relevant to our business - trade journals, etc. Tried clearing "Recently viewed" - and the "Recommended" window immediately switched to displaying nothing but Playboy and Penthouse issues.

As I said - it sounds like a joke, but it's serious. I'd have thought it'd be a simple issue of just deleting that category, but that doesn't appear possible.

I'm confused.

Is it just trade magazines that you're after?

Try refining your search till you get the page you want, then add it to favourites.

Next time, come in on the bookmark.

See if that works.

Yes, I can avoid the dodgy stuff just fine - I never use the "home" page.

The problem is with those who aren't Net-savvy, and just type in www.ebay.com.au, and go straight to the home page as a result.  The boss doesn't really do eBay - he won't be searching for anything to buy - but will pop in occasionally to have a look at what we're selling. When he does that, the soft-porn stuff is appearing on the home page.

And yes, I can go in and set "favourites" and bookmarks, etc - but he'll most likely still just type in the address and go to the home page, and cop exactly the type of stuff I'm trying to avoid him copping.

What I really need to know is if there's a way to either clear all the "suggested" / "recommended" categories entirely, or somehow just (better) stop them from appearing, full-stop...

Downlaod a free adblocker and turn on the pop up blocker and your browser.

And the best way to clear 'suggested' items is to search others which will override the earlier ones.

So, four months down the track, and no change - each time I go to the home page, there's still a procession of "girlie" magazines which eBay have "Recommended" for me.

EVERY other "recommeded" category shows items relevant to my searching and selling habits, except that one. Despite four months of searching motoring and trade magazines, I'm still copping this soft-porn rubbish...
