If you mean that the number of results does not correspond to the number of listings you see, it is possible that some of the listings are multiple variation listings -- for those, each variation counts as a separate result.
If you mean something else, could you provide an example of the search you are doing, and an indication of what results are missing?

I think I know what he means, although it hasn't happened to me for awhile. Say there are 10,000 results to your search. Taking multi variations out of the equation, once you get to the end of page 10, there is no page 11. I hated it when it happened, so would change the search results to try and see more. That is, time ending soonest, lowest price etc.
When it used to happen to me, most of my searches were for auctions, do definitely not a multi variation issue. When that did happen with the multi variations, it took me a bit to work out what was going on. I had 200 results, but could only see 12!

I think that 10,000 listings is the most that can be displayed in a search result, so if you are looking at 200 items per page, you should be able to view 50 pages of results (if there are at least that many unique listings). If you try to view page 51 of the search results, you will get this error message:
"We're unable to show you more than 10,000 results. Please refine your search to narrow your results."
Could you (or the original poster) provide a current example of a search of (non-variation) auction listings that shows fewer listings viewable than the number of results?
I do recall at least one notable instance when searches were returning fewer listings than results where it was obvious there was a problem; in that case, when there were fewer than ten results, only three or four listings were shown, and changing the sort order would display completely different items. But this was a very isolated case that lasted a day or two before it was corrected.
I also seem to recall an issue that prevented page two and beyond from displaying when searching completed listings -- I believe that case was due to a problem with ad blocking; disabling ad blocking allowed those extra pages to be viewed in that case.
If you run into an issue like that again, it might be worth trying that same search in another browser to see if that makes a difference.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Sorry I couldn't respond earlier. Things have been hectic.
To clarify my query, I've been an Ebay member for years. As a BMW enthusiast & restorer, I rely highly on the site to find & purchase vehicle parts, new & used, especially those which are hardest to find due to declining stocks & availabilty worldwide, for older model vehicles generally, or worse for classics, rarities, & limited production special models. I've even purchased several BMW Cars AND Motorcycles on Ebay over the years, in addition to automotive memorabilia. Naturally, I also purchase many other widely varied and unrelated products here, too. But it's our automotive interests & collection that are responsible for most of my Ebay time.
When I'm working on a vehicle and need to find a very specific component or several for it ASAP to complete the job at hand, correspondingly specific search terms referencing that information are logically used. However, more often than not, in the absence of such pressing motivational factors, I'll search as broadly as possible for the widest array of BMW related items of any description, to maximise the odds of being in a position to capitalise on the opportunity to acquire anything of importance, relevance, or covetousness that appears on the market. With a collection of rare, classic, desirable, & valuable BMW Cars (12 of) , and 4 Motorcycles, there's always a substantial list of items relating to them, or some other object of desire to serious collectors (tragics... ??!? 🙄🤪🤣), some of which I've been trying to acquire for decades.
Subsequently, I've been performing the same "BMW" product search, under "All Categories", since time began, and have ALWAYS, until this issue appeared, had the same experience. Approximately 1.5 million results would be found, and at the standard setting of 50 per page, how close I could get to scanning every result to the last, was completely dependent on my determination to achieve the task, versus my endurance & stamina to withstand it. A dusk til dawn marathon saw me capitulate when the exhaustion & despair was sapping my will to live, yet the cruel & relentless stream of search results showed no sign of slowing down.
NOW, everything appears normal with 50 results per page as expected, however by approximately page 10, suddenly there are less than half that many results being displayed, and two pages later, nothing. This has NEVER occurred before, at least in my experience.
My question is why? And more importantly, is it likely to persist? I can live without looking for collectibles & memorabilia. It's not essential, and I already have enough accumulated to have long since transcended a "hobby", and qualify as disorder. But this issue SERIOUSLY affects my ability to continue to service, maintain, & restore our vehicles, when the search results DISAPPEAR at page 11 or 12, long before I've usually been able to locate an Ebay vendor who can supply what I need, making the continued search for it elsewhere, online or otherwise, more difficult by factors too annoying to quantify.
Hope that gives you a more detailed explanation of the search I'm doing, and of what results are missing, as you requested in your previous message. I'm searching for ALL things "BMW" in all categories, and when I say they disappear after page10, I mean they DISAPPEAR....ALL of them. At the top of the page, it still says there are approx.1.5 million results, the next 50 of which should lie before me as usual. Except there's NOTHING displayed. A BLANK page. I can navigate back a few pages and the previous results on those pages are still there, all 50 of them. Forward another page, and maybe half that number are displayed. Forward one more, and a blank page greets you. As I said, I could previously keep searching forward through hundreds of pages, 50 results to a page, until I was cross eyed and too tired to try and find out where the search results end. As far as I was aware, they might have gone on indefinitely. Now they disappear long before I've been able to search through more than the first layers of most COMMON results, with the rarer stuff I used to find buried deeper in the results no longer accessible. Do I need to start researching where I might find what I need elsewhere online, if Ebay is broken now? Or is someone going to fix it? And soon?
Cheers.

Can you provide a link to this broken search?
I have seen a case where a search would break navigating between page 1 and page 2 because the number of terms in the search URL was too great, causing the last few terms to not be evaluated correctly. In that case, dropping some exclusions or excluded sellers from the search allowed the search to proceed.
But I have never seen such a problem that happened on page 10, though.
Still, it might be worth playing with your search terms to see if dropping some exclusions allows you to get farther into the results.
I have no idea if eBay has recently changed the way that search works, or if such a change is causing problems for you.
In general, if your search is turning up more than 10,000 results, you need to narrow your search further as you will not be able to view more individual listings in a single search than that on eBay. If you are scanning new listings, try limiting your search to items listed in the last 24 hours, for instance, to make the numbers more manageable.

I don't have any exclusions. I'm asking for all results. Your recommendations about narrowing searches....I already explained that I DO narrow my search specifically if I need to find a particular item quickly. Here, I'm casting my net WIDE deliberately to find obscure results that I might miss otherwise and I have the time to keep looking. Point being, as I explained earlier, this behaviour NEVER occurred before. And without changing ANY settings or doing ANYTHING other than navigating from one page to the next, why are my search results reducing to NOTHING DISPLAYED by page 10? I've also attached some screenshots of Pages1,8,9, & 10. Showing clearly the number of results displayed dropping from 50 on PAGE 1, to 0 on PAGE 10. and I've changed no settings or done anything except click to navigate to the next page. In over 10 years using Ebay, it's never happened before. Nothing you've said or suggested has addressed that or explained it. But I appreciate your interest. No one else seems to be. It's been like this for a week now. I'm ready to give up looking for answers. It's not my job to fix Ebay's broken stuff. My computer and all browsers are behaving perfectly normally at every site I visit or any programs I use. No viruses or issues. If Ebay doesn't work anymore I'll have to look elsewhere.. This is **bleep** me off now.

What browser are you using? It might be worth trying another to see if you run into the same limit at the same spot.
All those links work for me, and display a full page of results. When I set my items per page to 200, I can go all the way up to page 50 and see all the results. Or I can get to page 200 with only 50 items per page, before I hit the 10,000 item limit.
If it matters, I am actually located in the US, but I am searching the Austalia site with my location set to Australia to calculate shipping.

Hi there. Thanks for your reply again and sorry I couldn't get back earlier. Just started a restoration on a 1969 BMW 2800 Sedan that belonged to former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser which I purchased last year.
Anyway.....I was surprised by your information, that you didn't experience the same issue when you followed my links. I'm using Firefox Browser, as I have always. My PC isn't exhibiting any signs of suspicious behaviour or malicious infections, and with the exception of this issue at Ebay, there is no change from normal I can perceive in the function or performance of my computer hardware or software, online or offline. There are no issues at any other site I visit, be it regularly or otherwise. However, in regard to your advice about trying another browser, I shall attempt with just that with my secondary browser Edge following this message. Not for the first time since this nuisance behavior started, I was speculating that if this issue was a symptom indicating my Firefox Browser was compromised or corrupted, why would it manifest in such a strangely abstract, unusual, & isolated way I've never encountered or heard of before, as opposed to the well known & commonly encountered behaviours associated with a malicious infection of this kind? An infected browser typically exhibits symptoms like spontaneously opening windows autonomously, redirecting to sites independent of user control, attempting to change settings or install software autonomously, suddenly becomming locked & unresponsive while displaying a screen impersonating an official message from a law enforcemnt body like FBI attempting to dupe the user into revealing sensitive information or extorting them directly for monies in a "Ransomware" type attack,.....
this recent issue I encounter at Ebay didn't strike me as an infection, and in addition to Microsoft Defender, I have a premium subscription with Malwarebytes, both of which have proved highly effective as protections, and any infections have been EXTREMELY rare and neutralsed quickly & totally. Yet, if this issue was emmanating from Ebay's side, which I thought most likely, then I also assumed it would be experienced by all if not most users, and yet I haven't seen any similar complaints from othere users when I check the discussion boards here, and now you report no sign of such issues at my links. I'm confused. After more than a decade on Ebay without a single issue, this happens out of the blue, without precedence, without explanation, apparently ONLY to me, and nobody including me, has any idea why. It's doing my head in. I have a mechanical engineering background, not I.T. or computers.
It's lucky the gun laws aren't as libertarian & permisive in Australia as those that govern your United States, or I'd have emptied a clip or cylinder of satisfaction into this harddrive & monitor, in a demonstration of my true sentiments for the digital age and it's gadgets. Followed shortly by the regret of reluctant acknowledgement for the convenience I just assasinated!
By the way, I just opened Ebay in Edge, and experienced the same rubbish.
Thanks for your assistance. I'm going to the shed to hit something with a hammer for a while.

I completely understand your frustration. As I mentioned in my reply, there were times I couldn't get past page 10 (with 200 results per page). It did eventually sort itself out, but still randomly happens from time to time.
As you seem to be constantly looking for new stuff, I'd change the results to "newly listed". That way the newest stuff shows first. If you do a search every day, it would only take a day or so where you'd only need to be looking at the first couple of pages. Could save a lot of angst........and time.
