In the middle ages money lenders were charged with the crime of usery and hung for charging 3% interest. Tick paypal for staying in the medievel limit for now. Ebay FEES FEES FEES deserve triple the punishment. Seems to me they are on a mission to worm there way into googles search results and that would be costing a pretty penny that us the sellers are paying for.
Just type into google one of your own items and see how many times it comes up in different sites that all lead back to ebay. I'm not into that philosophy at all. As a buyer I go to ebay to find what I like and then do a google search to make sure the price is fair. Ebay is making it very hard to check up on what's out there because the first dozen top answers are just ebay ghost sites. THat is in my opinion where our fees go. Its all slightly dodgy and not how ebay used to be. If there was an alternative I'd go there. Gumtree is a start but needs to get the buyer protection sorted out. Ebay fees will kill ebay or make it the domain of the big sellers only.

I phoned ebat today, and you can request to loose your power seller rating, as I will be doing before the new changes so at least I will get the 30 free listing fees a month.

hi guys I bought a Xbox game for 38 dollars it was supposed to be genuine but it was a useless pirated cd. I am entitled for a refund but I have to pay 20+ dollars to send it back registered post to get a refund. The seller has been suspended and PayPal will not cover me for return postage and will go in favour of the suspended seller if I don't provide a tracking number. I thought PayPal was here to protect buyers from crooks. So much from PayPal protection.

I have bought a lot of items from eBay over the past few years & now I have just started selling. These new changes are going to be disasterous, eBay is cutting off it's nose to spite it's face, all in the name of bringing in bigger money from businesses. Buying (and selling) on eBay has in the past been on fairly level playing fields, with there being lower as well as higher priced items selling equally well but I've noticed over the past few weeks buyers are tending to lean more toward the cheapest items where the higher priced items remain without any bids and unsold. With the new proposed changes this will make it even harder for members to sell quality items as they will have to increase their prices to compensate, which means they'll have even less chance of selling their goods. Its ok to sell cheap items, everyone loves a bargain, but for those of us who make our own products to sell in eBay, we need to put a price on our items that will cover the costs of making them & most of the time we only get back what we financially put into it without including the time we put into making these items. So come on eBay, you need to get in here & read some of these posts & start listening to the SELLERS not the buyers. If it wasn't for the sellers you wouldn't have any buyers!!!

ok so i've just stumbled upon this news of ebay increasing their fee's. wow do they have a clue what they are doing?
I actually got totally ripped off with the sell fee's a few days back, even before this new fee structure.

Anyway, I was charged the 7.9% fee due to starting the auction price at 99cents. I thought it would attract more buyers, and save me a dollor or whatever the listing fee usually is.

BOY what a bad move.
The final price of the item was $632.
My interpretation of the fee structure gave a final value fee of $19.25.
Yet as they deceptively applied the 7.9% fee to my auction, i was charged $49.93!
That is a 260% fee increase.

WHAT THE ****
You have GOT to be kidding me.
I posted a topic here with no responses yet. http://forums.ebay.com.au/topic/Selling/New-Fees-I/600142396#1315297285687
as suggested, i'm submitting this to fair trading as that is DISCUSTING behaviour from ebay.

Is ebay really that ignorant and pig headed?

The new fees don't come into effect until Sept 22nd so any auction finishing before then should be on the "old" fee structure.

yeah i know, but had I not been fooled by the seemingly logical choice to get a free listing by making my starting price less than a dollar, and started it at over a dollar, I would have only been charged $19.25.

When the new fee's come in, I'l lbe charged the ridiculous 7.9% fee ($49.93 in this case) regardless of my starting price.

So my point was just how huge the increases are. I mean WTF ebay, you surveyed your sellers, and to improve things you increased their fee's by up to 260%??????
I always thought of ebay as a great company, but i've since learned how ruthless they are. do they not understand that if you drive away the supply, you drive away the demand? I can see some alternative auction places opening up in Australa when these new fees come up. sadly, as soon as something like that is set up, ebay would then reduce their fees again and squash the competition. so we just have to bend over and cop it sweet...?

Due to the changes in ebay's fee structure I just chose to act on my decision to Opt out of ebay's powersellers program,
I rang and spoke to someone in another country who spoke over the top of me for most of the conversatiion supposedly I can opt back in if I need to but I notice I can not access the powersellers discussion board anymore
Has anyone else acted on this policy yet? The ebay customer rep said I would experience a detrimental selling effect due to my seller status not being top-rated anymore but my items search results being behind all the US & UK sellers already I really can't see how it could be any worse - I have only one item listed at the moment and really cant be bothered listing any more items as my selling results have been crap for a while
