My point being it would be nice if ebay fixed the advanced search facility which allows anyone to see anything we buy, the date, who it was from and for what price. CMON EBAY, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND REMOVE THIS FACILITY. It is a breech of all buyers privacy.

Point taken and appologies offered. My point still stands that if ebay is going to protect our privacy, this facility needs to be ammended. I have contacted ebay numerous times about it. Why am I concerned ? I am aware of members being very adversly affected by it, with thier accounts being tampered with after posting on the forums. One person lost many thousands of dollars in income when they could least afford it, as a result of a post on the forums and information from their buying history used to attack thier account.

As a buyer and seller, I am interested in what prospective buyers have purchased. Ebay is not a private site; this info is useful to many people. There is always the option to make your own feedback private if you wish. Please don't take this option from those who find it useful.

Private feedback does not mean that our purchases are private....there are other ways of finding out what a member has bought.
Why would a seller be interested in what else a prospective buyer has purchased? Now that is just snooping and a very good reason for ebay to take away the facility for snooping.
However I do find the ability to help members on the boards is being impeded by lack of information. Several times recently there have been questions regarding machinery purchases but we cannot see who the seller is, even though past experience tells us who it is. We have to be conservative with advice whereas if we were sure of the seller we could give much more accurate advice and tell the member how to get their desired outcome without wasting time.
