A Reminder About the Sale of Items That Contain Small, High-Powered Magnets

The ACCC has recalled previously banned small, high-powered magnets due to reports of injuries among young children. 

To ensure eBay remains a safe place for our community to buy and sell, we want to remind you that there is a permanent ban on the supply of certain high-powered magnets to Australian consumers. This applies to the sale of such items on the eBay platform regardless of whether they were sourced within Australia or overseas. 

These magnets are often found in children’s toys, games and novelty goods like puzzles, jewellery or modelling kits. 

We already have measures in place on the eBay site to prevent sellers from listing items that contain these magnets. However, if you list items similar to those listed above, particularly children’s products, please ensure you are familiar with the ACCCs product safety guidelines.
