From today, we’re implementing changes to our category structure to provide a more intuitive buying, selling and search experience. These changes should ensure that your listings appear in the relevant categories and buyers will find it quicker and easier to discover your items.

Which categories are impacted?

The below categories will see some structural changes:

  • Collectibles & Art
  • Jewellery
  • Musical Instruments
  • Parts & Accessories
  • Sporting Goods

What this means for you

Your listings

When the category structure changes, your listings may be automatically moved to another category, based on your item specifications.

You may see temporary impacts to your listing experience as category updates go into effect. This will only be short-term and you should see eBay’s category experience normalise once the changes are in effect.

Your fees

Generally speaking, when your item(s) is moved to a new category, it will adopt the final value fees of that new category. Insertion fees and optional listing upgrade fees will also be based on the new destination category.

If you list in the below categories, this may mean a change to your eBay fees:

  • Jacks, Stands & Sawhorses (43593)
  • Development Kits & Boards (65507
  • Power Regulators & Converters (117000)
  • Other Electrical Equipment & Supplies (92078)
  • Switching Mode Power Supplies (181922)
  • Other Starters (181706)

These categories are being moved from Tier 2 to Tier 3 which may result in a change to your fees depending on whether you have a store subscription.
