need to sign for knives at the post office, i.e. provide ID. If it's a
restricted item, the necessity to check age will show up for the postie.

There is zero restriction. Any dangerous object has to be signed for or
picked up from the LPO, so the postal service naturally applies
restrictions on such purchases anyway. The Ebay rule has been appealed

Ebay has lifted their knife sales restrictions. I just tested by buying
a cheap knife, had no problems. I am very pleased they actually listened
to us.
