Ongoing funds dispute since 27/1/2022

Hi there.

I decided to enter into the ebay world after suffering some financial worries, and thought this would be an above board way to make a little money on the side to help settle the wolves from growling (so to speak).

I listed an item that i had procured at a bargain price but with sad memories attached to this and that this (handbag) was dificult for me to personally use, the thought that i could sell it on seemed to good to be true, or perfect an idea, so i thought.

I not only was pressured to settle below the requested amount but then a complaint was lodged. ANd so my access to funds for this hand bag which the person(&%^$) has had in their possession since the 28th of December last year has me extrememly annoyed as i just wish to be done with it. I know that listing the item should have comments made but no comment has been made no action has been taken to support my side of the transaction also.

do i need to seek out the ombudsman? I dont know what to do.. perhaps i let it go.. NOT LIKELY.

If it werent for bad luck, id have no luck at all.. Despite my attempts to follow this up. im over it! Please somebody.. I need answers.

I cannot view the listing any more, maybe because there is a dispute going on and eBay took it down? Listings should be still viewable for 90 days after they end.

What was the problem? What did the listing say and what did the buyer complain about?

I assume (as it is often the case with similar items) that it might be an authenticity issue. Are you able to prove the bag is genuine, maybe with some old receipt?

Unfortunately, some buyers are scammers and claim an item is fake even if they know it is genuine so that they can keep it and then send back a fake item when asked to return the item.

I am not saying this is the case of course, as I am not even sure what the dispute or complaint is about.

As for holding funds, as you are a new seller, it is quite normal, but unfortunately if the buyer is not happy it will be difficult.

The LV bag that sold for $700?

Please return & provide details of exactly what happened... without all the fluff?

OP: we really need more details in order to help. We are ordinary members, not eBay staff, so we don't know what happened if you don't tell us. We understand you are upset, but in order to help, we need to know what happened very clearly... Please let us know.

The world is full of fake  LV and other high end products.  As you acquired it at a bargain price, there is a very high chance it is a fake and unless you have absolute proof to the contrary, then you have probably done your money.  Assuming that the buyer claimed the item is fake.

Sadly, you are in inexperienced seller and listing high priced items is a huge attraction for scammers. Most likely your buyer has lodged a complaint saying that the item is fake. This is a great way for the scammer to keep the item and get their money back. If the buyer was messaging you about the bag price, that would have been a huge red flag to just block them.

All sellers need to have signed up for Managed Payments - it has been the new system since July 2020. There were many emails about it and information on your seller pages. Your money will be held indefinitely until you are verified, but if the buyer has lodged a dispute, you will most likely lose the case as you cannot prove it is genuine.

Sorry, I had missed the "at a bargain price" part. As gutter said, there are many fake designer items out there... Occasionally you can also find real bargains, but not new... mostly at OP shops for example, when they don't know what it is or if it is genuine or not, so they end up selling for a really good price, although these days with the Internet etc. bargains seem to have become rarer.

Best Offer accepted, so what was the selling price?

Also, because you advertised this as LV, I assume eBay requested you to send it to an authenticator first?  Did this happen?
If yes, then it is the reason for the hold up. Authentication can take up to 30 days. If found authentic, they will forward onto the buyer and you will get your money.

If found fake, the buyer will be refunded and the bag returned to you.

Can you be a bit more specific with what has ACTUALLY happened, give us Just The Facts!

cheers….

😊
