In addition to the addition, do not go for a replacement — unless the seller is an authorised Australian business for that item.

Just get a full refund.

The reason for that is that if the seller sold you a non-functioning item the first time around, the likelihood of receiving the same sort of non-functioning item is high. Especially if what you purchased was a Chinese unbranded item, the problem in the item is probably intrinsic and the failure of the item to work properly would have happened anyway, probably within a year. That’s much too late for any remedy, and as mentioned the MBG is not a product warranty. You’re possibly lucky that the failure was immediate, so that you’re not dealing with a warranty issue but rather with Item Not As Described. That is covered by the MBG.

Act now. Your options diminish as time goes by.

In addition to what padi said, consider that the eBay Money Back Guarantee does not include replacement or repair.

If the seller doesn't come through (quickly), lodge a Not as Described case. The onus will then be on the seller to refund or pay the postage for you to return the item, then refund.

Open an official dispute with eBay's MBG. DO NOT close it until you are completely satisfied with the outcome.
