I bought 2 items from 2 stores which had seperate postage fees.
Parcel arrives with both items in that one parcel , therefore the postage was combined and cheaper than what we paid for the 2 postage fees
We were not offered the combined postage , we did not know they had multiple stores . Even if the store does not offer combined postage ( which he has said ) , if we had known they were essentially the same store we could have changed our options on what we wanted to do?

I suspect you just made some lists longer, mine certainly ๐

Not the best seller. As they say, their feedback really does speak for itself.
Actually, I am quite surprised to see a seller acting in such an unprofessional way.

Seller completely in the wrong and they have left themselves wide open to losing the cash for one of the items. As they obviously were not paid for in a single invoice there is nothing to stop the OP opening an item not received dispute for one of them, they would win hands down as the seller could not use the tracking number for both items.
Of course to keep it honest the OP should then pay the seller the item price only once they have their refund.
I too would leave negs, there is no excuse for what they did, combining items from the same id and not giving a discount is fine and I have no problem with that but combining when they are not the same account is beyond bad.

There was correspondance with the seller , he justified it by saying it was bought at Auction and not a buy it now item with free postage .
I understand we were willing to pay for the 2 postage fees but if I knew he was going to post them in one parcel there is no way I would have paid that much for postage.
I think its unethical what was done and his justification inadequate.
I think the negative feedback is warranted , I have never had any other major issue buying something , I also think his reply to my response to the feedback is a lie.

I have a little admission to make. On a couple of occasions recently I have had International clients, buy items from both my stores on the same day. On both occasions I have combined total post for both and sent in one International tracked parcel. I have done this to keep postage costs down for my customers and only charged actual cost for the one parcel. I have had some reservations about it and knew it could cause problems if the parcel went missing. One of the buyers is now a repeat customer bidding strongly on some auctions I have going at the moment. I,m still a bit suss about it all, but like to keep costs down as much as I can for customers and would probably do it again. People in my selling field are older men who are usually very honest and responsible. I may not be game to do the same trick in a different sales catagory.

My sellers do it all the time - circumstances are a little different I guess, because half the time postage is "free", so not able to be combined (for a discount) from the same or different sellers (ID's), the other half of the time, when postage is charged separately, the total item price is still lower than the free-post item from one of their other stores, so I've never felt ripped off or thought it was something to complain about.
Whether the seller(s) qualify for Seller Protection could be debateable. If the payments went to the same PayPal account, then at least one purchase wouldn't qualify for protection. If (as mine often do) they went to different PayPal accounts, I suspect the outcome of a spurious INR claim would not be in the favour of the buyer.

If your buyers are agreeable, you could always generate an independent invoice via PayPal, so that they make (and you receive) one payment, then no one's protection has to be compromised.
