2 different stores , charging 2 separate postage fees then sends them in a combined parcel

I bought 2 items from 2 stores which had seperate postage fees.

Parcel arrives with both items in that one parcel , therefore the postage was combined  and cheaper than what we paid for the 2 postage fees

We were not offered the combined postage , we did not know they had multiple stores . Even if the store does not offer combined postage ( which he has said ) , if we had known they were essentially the same store we could have changed our options on what we wanted to do?

I would argue the postage service that was paid for was not as described.

Which one?

I agree with some of your points, but these sorts of isssues can't be resolved by using PayPal's dispute system, at the very least in part, to teach a seller a lesson if you don't like their business practices.

Besides, if the seller knows anything about PayPal disputes, all they would have to do is escalate the claim themselves immediately for it to close in their favour.

How dare you imply by posing this question that I am encouraging others to make a fradulent claim.

That is not the case.  I will not reply to you again under your id on this thread, or any others you roll out.

Not necessarily so.  As I posted, it is what I would do to reinforce the message to the seller that their practices are misleading and not transparent.

This is a discussion board afterall, I am posting what I would do in this situation.  It is simply another perspective.

I have had success in getting sellers to refund excessive post by opening a claim.  I also note that if the disupte is escalated by buyer or seller to a claim and buyer loses that claim that the seller could get the negatives removed by ebay if requested, so my tactic would not be for those who were happy to leave negatives and move on and not risk having the negs removed.

While I, on the other hand, would prefer to have an open and (relatively) transparent way to be able to alert both the seller and buyers of said same (and be reasonably confident it would stick), if that's how I viewed a transaction, particularly if I can't change my own outcome.

Different strokes, I guess.

Selective selection of comments indeed DG, given I also noted that I have received refunds from sellers on a number of occassions, your comments are lacking the detail and substance of my experience as outlined in my post that was a good outcome indeed for me, and potentially others that may deal with those sellers in the future, that may have been more likely not to do the same again, or maybe not.

PayPal User Agreement

Postage is a service, not a tangible good.

................................................

  1. Your purchase is for a tangible good that can be shipped. For the avoidance of doubt, the PayPal Buyer Protection Policy does not apply to:
    1. Intangibles (for example digitally delivered goods), although we may cover intangibles which have been transferred to a physical media (such as paper or CD-ROM) and shipped;
    2. Services;
    3. Licences and other access to digital content;
    4. Travel tickets; or
    5. Sale of business

I quote the bits I want to comment on so that others can see what I'm commenting on. So yes, of course it's selective, but it's not like I make the rest of the words you write in your posts invisible by doing so. People read your posts, then they read mine (well, maybe they do, sometimes I'm not so sure...). But if they do, I presume they can remember more of what they read that what I quote.

I stated what I would do and the reasons why, as what I would do and the reasons why differ, there really doesn't have to be any more to it than that.

Post service paid for - ie 3kg satchel is a tangible good that comes with a service too, and in addition forms part of description of goods being sold AND sales contract,

Ok, my apologies, so you're just saying that you would do this.

However, by publishing that here, it does give others the idea to do the same, especially when it is an established seller espousing how they would handle the situation.

I was simply clarifying what you said. There were no implications involved.

What's the difference between tangible and intangible goods?

A tangible good can be held and shipped (CD, mobile phone).
An intangible good can't be held or shipped in a box
