A/Post says Perfumes Sold on Ebay are Dangerous Prohibited Items to Save them giving a Refund

Australia Post delivered Chanel No 5 Perfume to the wrong address and admitted it was their fault & could not get the parcel back after numerous attempts. I have contacted AP & they have said they cant refund as it was a Dangerous item. I have sent perfume before and showed AP what it was & was not told it was prohibited to sell. I have been waiting for weeks for ebay to do something about this as I thought AP was going to refund me which they should do. They even sent me photos of the post box the perfume was left in & I told them it was NOT my post box.  Ebay use AP as their delivery service and should be able to fix this problem and get AP to refund the costs. If They use the excuse about Prohibited Goods I should be able to contact Consumer Affairs.

So you're the buyer.

"I have been waiting for weeks for ebay to do something about this"

You purchased from a seller who sells their items on the eBay site.

Was it a reputable seller who may have had a dangerous goods licence ?

It's always a problem proving an item was delivered to a wrong address as the parcel tracking will show as delivered but have you actually opened an item not received claim through eBay's money back guarantee ?

hey casey, you were the 1st to call this...don't sell yourself short ๐Ÿ˜‰

@sassyy19,

You should have opened a โ€œnot as describedโ€ claim under eBayโ€™s MBG. If you claim the perfume was fake, you needed to prove that. The way to do that is to take the perfume to your nearest Chanel shop and get an official statement on letterhead by a Chanel rep to that effect.

(I donโ€™t think that either Myer or DJ - even though they have Chanel counters and sell their perfumes - have the authority or expert knowledge to identify a fake; itโ€™s one of the actual Chanel shops youโ€™d need.)

You upload that document within your claim. (Itโ€™s best to have this evidence BEFORE you open the claim.)

eBay accept this standard of proof. Youโ€™d almost certainly not have been required to send back the perfume, and would almost certainly have been required to destroy it instead. Youโ€™d have been refunded. This whole mess would have been avoided.

Unless a seller is an authorised seller of Chanel in Australia, they cannot sell new Chanel to the Australian public. If you know Chanel products (as you mentioned), youโ€™d be aware of Chanelโ€™s tight grip on distribution. Of course they donโ€™t sell on eBay. For future Chanel purchases, go to Myer or DJ or to a Chanel shop in person. You can have it posted to you (but it canโ€™t be sent express because of the โ€œair-travel safety regulationsโ€ - that is, adherence to postage requirements of dangerous goods).

I think youโ€™ve muddied the waters by adding to all sorts of extraneous information. Itโ€™s irrelevant that you saw a parcel being delivered to a wrong address. Itโ€™s irrelevant that you sent back two other bottles.

Soโ€ฆ DID YOU RECEIVE THE BOTTLE IN QUESTION?

If you did, then is it the case that you sent back the perfume? And is it the case that this package was not delivered to the seller?

Just explain these points.

Just in case sassy doesn't return, I think I can clarify everything she wrote.

Much of it relates back to her original thread in August

1) Sassy's orginal complaint was about AP

2) "The 35ml never arrived left 2 streets away. All admitted in writing by AP that it was delivered to wrong address"

Briefly:

The original  2 bottles were returned to the seller and Sassy has been refunded.

Sassy tried to cancel  the order for the missing bottle but the seller posted anyway.

It didn't arrive and when Sassy queried it with Australia Post, it was proven that the parcel was delivered to a different address 2 streets away.

Sassy did  start a claim under eBay's MBG but also mentioned  that she thought Australia Post would refund her so eBay closed the case.

Her other complaint was that she purchased something from Myer and  received an email to say it  had been delivered. She looked in her letterbox which was empty and found it two doors down.

Hence her complaint against AP

I thank you for your numerous replies & have only seen them now. I am starting to work out trying to sell on ebay a bit better now. You do need to do a lot of reading the new rules which I understand some are to stop scammers.

I did not know who was responsible really but have learnt from my own mistakes to be careful what you buy online with anyone.
