A seller agreed to a 10 pound discount off my next purchase

They stated the wrong artist on the item I bought and we agreed that i would get a 10 pound discount off my next item instead of a full refund with international postage etc.. Well I just won an item and it only cost 2.30  pounds with 11.99 pound postage. THE SELLER SAID THEY ADJUSTED THE INVOICE BUT IT HAS NOT CHANGED ON MY END TO REFLECT THAT CHANGE. wHAT SHOULD I do? I ahave sent a message to the seller that it has not come through, and am now getting warnings to pay for it from ebay. I have looked to see if the seller has other items for sale but nothing comes up. It seems the item is going to cost the seller money to post after discount. The seller has been fair but i want my discount too.

You should not have accepted the offer of a future discount, it is not part of the ebay process and they will be unable to enforce it. The seller cannot discount the item price as ebay will not let them, they can only alter the postage amount anyway.

Email them again asking them to apply the promised $10 discount off the delivery cost. If they open an unpaid item dispute (the ebay reminders are automatic so the seller may not be sending them) contact ebay and explain why you haven't paid. The worst that will happen is you get a strike against your account

Did you go through the ebay returns process before accepting the offer? If not go through it now if it isn't too late. The seller should be liable for the cost of a return for not as described.

Re: A seller agreed to a 10 pound discount off my next purchase

What postage method was the seller using in the listing?

If it is being shipped through the GSP, they can't discount postage because they are not the ones who receive that money or ship the item to Australia.

Sellers also can not adjust item prices after an item has been purchased, so they may have no way to provide the discount on this purchase (I don't know if sellers can issue invoices when they are using the GSP, but even if they can, it won't change anything).

What you would need to do in a case like this is ask the seller to create a custom listing for you with the discount already applied to the pricing, that way you don't even buy unless the discount is applied, and you don't need them to adjust anything post-sale.
