It appears you are right and eBay have now removed my $10 voucher code, so it looks like it is gone. eBay are fighting us over a measly $10, when on eBay Canada and maybe US, they have organised huge discounts for ebay buyers up to 50% off. This is a genuine offer from eBay and has been named the "5-Day Deal Super Frenzy". (See attached saved screen shot)

Aussies can still buy up to 30 September (US time), with shipping around US$30-$45 on most items, almost sold out, but savings are enormous. Also selling Sony Smartwatches (New) for US$75.

I actually saved a screenshot of all of the pages relating to the voucher offer including the terms and conditions page.  There was no mention of having to spend $50 or more.  The code didn't work for me either.  ebay told me their working on fixing the problem, but I would be able to use the voucher when the problem was solved.  We'll see if they are as good as their word.

Hi all, relatively new here. I received a voucher saying that I'll get $10 off if I make a purchase with my mobile app, the code appears to be CMOB3. I tried it 5 min ago and it says "the code is invalid".

From the responses, I could see that others are having the same problem? Any recommendation about what I should do?

Unfortunately, eBay seem to be telling everone it is only a "Advertisement". However, if you received a genuine $10 voucher through your email, then they should be compelled to give it to you. I would also contact eBay by phone or live chat and insist that you receive the $10 voucher, as some buyers said this worked in their favour.

You need to make the purchase on ebay Australia and your email address on eBay and PayPal needs to be the same and you only have to October 4 to use. I would also contact PayPal by phone and try to persuade them to accept the voucher code, or you tell them you will cancell the transaction. Personally, I have always found PayPal more understanding and helpful than eBay, so it's worth a try.

I firmly believe this is a half hearted attempt by eBay Au to promote more sales. Most of my bargains on eBay have been with ebay.com and ebay.co.uk, as they have a lot more sellers. You can usually get more bargains and lower prices, as long as you don't mind longer shipping times.

eBay sent me a 10% discount voucher by email and I received $14 off on a transaction, but I did not try the CMOB3 code.

Contact ebay to confirm your eligibility and so your claim is recorded and escalated.

If you are not satisfied with the response you get regarding this matter, you may wish to contact the ACCC or your State Government's Fair Trading Department.

There is quite strict legislation in relation to promotion and advertising by traders within Australia and if further public or individual user information is not forthcoming regarding the status of the discounts then it may be that one or more of these bodies become involved IMO.

Hopefully though, ebay will send advice within the next couple of days (or even sooner would be better) of their advice in relation to this promotion.

Thanks for the reply @thecatspjs and @kkanga43. Fortunately, I tried contacting my seller and they agreed to cancel the purchase. I'd still love to buy the item if the voucher is valid so I guess I'll contacting paypal or ebay directly

cheers! ๐Ÿ˜„

Re: Any one else got the email for a $10 voucher if you use the ebay mobile app?

I do not use Mobile BUT I ALSO got offers on every listing I viewed from yesterday until today! Believing the offer to apply to ALL items won....and not getting any email advice to the contrary either before OR after 2 purchases made today...I bought 2 items and expected 10% discount as promised in the promo. The promo. did not refer to any terms and conditions...It simply said "If you bid you will get 10% off the price" etc.

When I got my ebay order it did not show the discounts. I was simply billed the original price...and had no code to use....

I email-chatted with Ebay this morning...The lady made no mention of a 'one time offer' nor did she ask me if I had received an emai lwith a code in it....and the email transcript clearly shows I was not given full info. She said there had been technical issues but then did not explain what the promotion actually was or how it was meant to run! So then I waited to get more info as promised. I had also made a bid on another item [now won] that I made because I expected to be avble to use a 10% off voucher o nALL purchase that I had made...since ALL listings had advertised the same offer!

Had I been warned I would not have made the offer to buy on 2 extra items.

Tonight I again emailed Ebay and was suddenly told that a] I HAD been sent an Ebay advice that issued a code...and that the email HAD listed the terms and conditions...and b] that the code and its promotion could only be used once!

I received NO email...let alone ANY promo code...and now Ebay says I did get it. Rot! I cannot prove it and they say they have no records??!!

I was conned BIG TIME! It was a rort I believe as Ebay sales have visibly been way down...and items have been going at much lower prices at least here in Australia!

Most people would simply pay as requested....and most may not object or pursue the issue even if they did recall the 10% discount offer having been made! Only 1 in 10 people might arc up...so Ebay has scored unfairly in potentially a LOT of cases!

I am reporting this to my government Consumer Affairs Office! I want the discounts applied ot ALL my purcahses made since yesterday! I was promised that....and Ebay stuffed up! How was I to know that they were having 'technical issues'?

I acted on advertising given to me....was given no other advice....so I was duped into buying!

Another 'seedy' aspect was that NO listing reported the fact that a 10% offer had been offered to me AFTER that listing closed! Even if the code could only be used once...that in my case was NEVER explained...NOR was any code given that could be checked etc anyway....I was not given any rewcord of the offer ever...not even on one listing!

You have been on ebay long enough to know that ebay voucher offers always have terms and conditions.  I have never had one that was not fully explained or one that was supposed to work on every item  I bought.   They are always limited to one purchase although you can buy several items in that purchase.

Re: Any one else got the email for a $10 voucher if you use the ebay mobile app?

I made a qualifying purchase on the mobile app between Sept 4-10. But I didn't receive a voucher code. I didn't receive the CMOB3 code. All they could say was they will put me on the next promotion. Disappointing outcome. Bait and switch.
