Australia Post always speeds up in the lead up to Christmas. They even do deliveries on Sundays to ensure everything gets delivered in a timely manner. I find most things arrive in half the time this time of year. 2 days to get from regional NSW to FNQ is pretty impressive when express post wasn't used (express post usually takes 2-3 days from here to FNQ).
Don't get too used to it, it will go back to normal in the new year.

Yes, Tippy, it will go back to normal in the New Year when the contractors are not working 7 days a week up to 6 and 7pm at night.

Not to mention starting at some ungodly hour. I had a delivery at 6.30am last Sunday. I hope they are getting paid accordingly for working Sunday.

They're contractors. I doubt AP would be paying more than standard piece rates.
I hope not, anyway. We all know how AP will recoup the extra costs

Most of the AP contractors start at 6 or 6.30am every day.....I am not far from the parcel centre and my parcels are usually delivered before 8am.
The StarTrack drivers get an extra $50 a day for working on the weekends. My OH doesn't do it because his delivery area is the Sydney CBD so mostly commercial deliveries....places like the Law Courts and the ATO.
