Taste waited 3 days for this sage advice?
Thought you had experience with the GSP - turns out, not so much with the dispute process, just whining about how bad it is.
Sorry imastawka. Me yery bad complaining about GSP and Pitney. You very good having a go at someone complaining about GSP and Pitney.
Maybe Pitney Bowes loooooovvveee you.You loyal. me very bad. Bad man. Complaining no good it seems!

You've complained for months (or longer) about how bad the service is, re packing/damaged good etc.
Have you never put i a claim for INAD? I thought you would have some useful info
to help others. But it seems not.
That was my complaint about your answer.
The ball was placed firmly in your court because no-one here had an answer re the GSP
and how to claim.
Or, at least, no-one came forward.
Very adult comeback BTW

People haven't come forth because there is a whole ball of confusion. This is the shambles that is representative of GSP / Pitnet.
And my comback was about as adult as your remark was.

You haven't answered the question.
Have you never put in a claim for INAD? You've complained about damaged goods.
Taste was wanting your expertise in this matter.

Didn't have to claim. I already mentioned seller just replaced the goods. Happy as the seller had 2 lots of the same dvd set. Rare too!

absolute rubbish, australia has no import tax for goods under a$1000.00 unless stated by customs, and then all sorts of forms have to be filled out, we start paying g.s.t. after that amount, sure you don't work for G.S.P. !

The post you are replying to is at least 6 months, and probably several years, old.
Why not just put your 2c worth in (which is likely to change shortly, or hadn't you heard?) without attacking another member over something that could well have been current at the time it was posted?
Oh, yeah, welcome to the boards. I am sure I am not alone in my anticipation of more of your helpful and insightful comments.

I have been buying several items recently from UK and USA. I am now getting sick of the ridiculous charges. My UK seller had his item as "Free Postage" I had to pay $28. He didnt know why I was being charged and couldnt change his listing. My US seller this week paid USD$11 to ship it. I paid $40 extra plus his $11. PBI did nothing to his package apart from sticking a couple of labels on it. There was stuff all padding in the parcel and the item arrived with some damage. I now email all sellers telling them I will not buy from them because they are using GSP.
Gumtree AU and UK here I come.
I have emailed sellers asking if they can offer normal postage too. Sellers sometimes don't even realize how expensive it can be I think, as recently a seller in the UK said he was going to opt out of GSP after I told him how much it was to post to Australia and added he was sorry that was not helpful for that particular item but there had already been bids and he could not change it. I think if I had placed a bid and had won he could have sent me an invoice but I didn't want to sound pushy. From what other posters have said in this thread it seems to be convenient for heavy items. However, it isn't for not so heavy items I collect.
I wish one could at least choose at check-out whether one wants GSP or normal postage.
I just searched to see what others thought because more and more sellers in the UK and the USA offer GSP and it is annoying when an item is nice and cheap and GSP is so expensive.

You have read the bits about sellers in those countries possibly not offering overseas delivery without the GSP?
I only sell to Australia. If we had the GSP I wouldn't care if foreigners wanted to buy my cheap books, as I would only have to ensure delivery to the GSP depot.
So I don't and won't offer overseas delivery. A lot of sellers using the GSP wouldn't either. And because of the GSP you get access to items you would otherwise be unable to buy.
But you knew that already...

Yes, I know, but the problem is that you never know. Some do agree to post normally, some don't. It is the same with "may not post to Australia". Some sellers do post to Australia, actually the majority of the sellers I have contacted. A seller once told me she usually doesn't indicate postage because eBay gets it wrong.
Some sellers say they agree to post normally if I take responsability if something happens. That's fair enough I guess.
Normal postage is really good too, and sometimes incredibly cheap. Luckily Germany doesn't participate in the GSP anyway. Their postage is excellent and incredibly cheap. I recently paid between 8 and 15 AUD for medium-size parcels (not heavy, but bulky) - with tracking and signature. Normal tracking from overseas usually doesn't work on the AusPost website, but they know when an item is scanned and if you ask them they will tell you.
Recently after contacting a seller in the USA who agreed to post normally I was also surprised to see that the tracking worked all the way to Australia, including delivery. Even AusPost was surprised. And it was First Class, not even Priority.
So sometimes they agree, sometimes they don't. I now usually only contact sellers if I am really keen on an article.
