Since the GST on low-priced imports was introduced and up until a couple of days ago, you could only buy from Amazon Australia, so that may explain why deliveries only took a few days.
I'm not sure if it was a quirk of how my account is set up (Amazon US member with prime), but I never stopped being able to order from Amazon US.

There was no cessation in being able to order from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.fr, etc., but one could not specify an Australian delivery address.
However, that has changed just days ago. Australian delivery addresses are back on the Amazon stovetop, so things are cooking.
(You cannot order from Marketplace sellers if you specify an Australian address, though.)

Cool, that's great news countessalmirena. There's good stuff on Amazon and the sellers that I have dealt with have always been prompt in sending.

Well all up it took 8 business days (12 days total) to arrive. It was originally shipped from Texas and sent to Brisbane.
That was better than they estimated (estimate was for another week). $35 is a huge rip off for a fairly small part though.

Marketplace, I believe, is third party sellers. Everybody but Amazon.

Exactly so. The third party sellers are still not able to send to Australian addresses at this time, nor to parcel forwarders.
I'm loathe to involve US friends because if something happens to an item I've ordered (for example, it arrives damaged, or it never shows up), do I fling angry wooden ducks at my co-operative friends or do I "eat" the loss of a no-doubt wonderful item?

The same happened to me with two illegal transactions on my pay pal account made by this company BUYER BEWARE
when the listing shows as being a GSP shipped item the transactions on your PayPal are not illegal nor unauthorised.
When a seller lists with GSP as the shipping method there is no option for the buyer to choose some other method.
The time to try to get a seller to change to another method is BEFORE buying or bidding.

Wow. FB left calling GSP a rort is still there.
Amazing.
Thought they automatically removed fb like that.

I looked at one of the items you bought that uses the GSP. I have included a screengrab to show that the use of GSP, and associated costs, are clearly shown on the listing (I am doing this at the risk of being labelled an apologist for the GSP).
My point is, contact the seller before buying and see if they can ship by some other method. If they can’t/won’t then find another seller who will.
