Bought an item that turns out to be stolen

Hi. I purchased a kindle paperwhite via an auction recently. It arrived in good time and was brand new and unopened as listed. Problem is I could not register it and I had amazon do a check on the serial number. It is listed as stolen. What do I do from here?

Contact the seller, they may not be aware it is stolen and may assist with rectifying the situation.

If they are not helpful then you can open a case for INAD to get a refund.

And further to that I would also provide the authorities with all the details of the item and seller.

Not advised. It is illegal to post stolen goods and the OP probably doesn't want to become complicit in a crime.

All good. I did request a refund from the seller, however they havent responded. Due to the circumstance, ebay has opened a case for me. As I played by paypal, I will get my money back regardless, but I feel a little foolish for what h was happened. My fault for trying to save a couple of bucks I suppose...
